seanjo Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Just a thought, if AI ships/fleets could report sightings of players to their respective Nations, in an "AI Reporter" a similar chat box to Combat News. So say a Spanish AI is sailing along and a French player is within its sight, the AI reports something like, "French ship 20 k's SE of Turneffe" to the Spanish Nation. This would open up a whole new way to play and add to content in my opinion. Thoughts? 1
Iroquois Confederacy Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Sounds like a way for people to not have to look around themselves. 5

Maybe, but it seems the PvPers don't want to look around, they want easy targets. This would encourage people to search for the enemy, they may even do it as a team.
seanjo Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 By the way, I would expect the report to be an approximate positioning.
Iroquois Confederacy Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 It would have the opposite effect. People would sit in port waiting to hear AI report player positions, then they would speculate about what and where that player is sailing, then 10 people would spill out to try to quash the poor simpleton who had the temerity to actually sail. This is an atrociously bad idea. 5

Valentine Karrde Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 The only way this would be acceptable would be if it was only broadcast to those in a certain region and only when the AI made port. I.E. realistically. 1
jodgi Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Let me put it this way: If long join timers is a good idea, this is a good idea. I know you mean well but we absolutely know what happens when you punish pro-active play and reward re-active play. 3
