Looking at this Patch I can admit that we were very naughty this year and this is what we got. Santa knows you did bad things in Naval Action. Endless pvp mark farming, seal clubbing, rate dupe, spying, treason etc..

Insteqd of using more 3rd rates and play smart people only bitch around and cry instead of thinking how to do it

I think it is mainly the carebears that love to PvE with their 1st rates in the greenzone that are complaining but yeah, this system is rather useless... the strongest nations get buffed / boosted even more and all it will do is cause them to snowball out of control and not motivate the weaker / smaller nations to fight as they become even weaker and smaller every round...

Also I really want to see some 3rd rates take on 1st rates with thickness buffs stacked on them... and let's not forget about heavy rattle in shallows vs mercs :D

But you are right, people should give it a try before complaining and try to adapt... I just think it's a complete fail even tho I really appreciate how they try to make PvP and RvR more important.

All i can see in this thread is why sweden actually became nr. 1 on leaderboard.

1. a patch hits

Now theres a difference between sweden and other nations

Other nations: "This is broken, hello kittying stupid, etc."

Sweden: " ok lets see how we work with that"

It was like that already at wipe and now its the same.

Insteqd of using more 3rd rates and play smart people only bitch around and cry instead of thinking how to do it

This is flat out bullshit. There are other nations and other players than swedes that are equally capable at figuring out how to survive the changes, yet are still capable of pointing out the broken mechanics at the same time. Swedish players have been complaining in this topic as much as anyone, and it is too early to let you forget about Sweden's reaction to #servermerge. Russians and Swedes complained equally and pointed out logical flaws in the arguments for the decision, but Russia, France and other nations at the same time chose to work with the situation we got and try to attract other global players to our nations. Future wipes and changes are going to completely change the populations and the complainers may still be proven right, but I have great hope that at least for the time being and for the duration of this server iteration, the timezone game may remain somewhat balanced and that there is always going to be one force in any timezone that will be willing to balance out the sides in order to get a fight and to keep the timezones somewhat balanced. Of course that dream got a shot across the stern when devs threw us this change that basically tells everyone to hurry up and beat on the little guy.

Yes. The heavy Rattlesnake has no chance against the Mercury.

Pretty much what it is about in a nutshell...

A duel in the making?

I'm no Portbattle or RvR expert but 10 x 6pd broadside, 1875 sidearmor and 45 thickness vs 13 x 6pd, 2100 side and 47 thickness seems pretty much in favour of RSH. You can of course load carronades on the merc but it's not like the enemy can't see that...

The server-merge was necessary for this game to survive. It wasn't a good idea to split it in the first place.

Was the better idea, all know if no Split, the game was to toilet thanks at ours nightflipers mates. Just like go now

Stop with this propaganda. EU server worked very good until we get this merge. You only made EU players angry.

    • 1 marks for third place
    • victory marks will only be given to the players who:
      • Have at least one lord protector status in at least one port by the end of the round - bringing his nation a control point or,
      • Participated in a successful port battle during the conquest round (even if the port was lost later on) - bringing his nation a battle point

1. Nice Patch, good work

2.:blink::blink: Guys, you should really stop drinking so much Vodka :blink::blink:

Victory marks only for players wo fight in PB?

Sorry, it is now almost impossible for small / solo players, to come to big ships, without buying them overpriced in the shop.
Sometimes you might really think you do not have all the cups in the closet anymore. Please also think about the small / solo players.

Sorry, but that had to be said now !

This game needs 700+ people on-line to make it fun to play. The Global-server was averaging 200 active players and the EU-server was barely managing 400 active players at peak times.

Ideally this game would be REALLY FUN to play when you have 1000+ players on-line, but the devs have made sure today that this will never happen again. :(

Do you know why we dont have 700+ people ? Because game lack of content, force to PvE, RvR and the PvP is broken. And server merge will change nothing.

Admin said it very clearly. He builds NA for himself first. You have to understand it. Or am I wrong here again?

Did he told that thing before or after having got quite some money from a lot of testers?

To me a large part of the problem is that the Devs are trying to shoehorn the game into a game they would like to play instead of a game a broad number of people want to play.  The game needs to cater to different types of gamers.  Me, at the risk of being trashed as a Care bear, enjoy the camaraderie of the clan, the strategy culminating in a hopefully-contested port-battle and the subtle tension of worrying about being ganked on a trade run.  I do not enjoy being the ganker - the times I've caught someone at a disadvantage I have waved them on every time.  Hell - if you can't act honorably in a game I fear for how you act in real life.  But that is >me<.  I accept that others get a chubby from a good gank and that actually adds to the game, it would be boring if everyone were a wuss like me.  The more inflexible the game becomes the more negative reviews it will garner.  And trust me - that is what is going to sink this game.  I suspect that it is already too late, that no one will buy a released-game with the mixed reviews currently posted in Steam.

I have my style of play, you have yours.  Either the game accommodates us both or one of us leaves.  And eventually the other will lose too, when the game fails.

As to the latest controversy, after an initial WTF reaction I saw the positives.  We still have second-rates and now that there are BR limits, 2nd rates have a real function.  A well build Buc is a solid ship.  I hope that this is a step towards limiting the number of 1st and 2nd rates.  We all know how rare they were in the real age of sail.  The silly part of the new rule is that only currently successful nations get the 1st rates, which will help keep them at the top.  But a system where the 1st rates were distributed based on the number of ports owned no matter where on the leader-board the nation is could be a good thing.  If 1st rates become rare and uber-expensive I can see port battles where the main focus is to protect / sink the clan's 1st rate, to hell with the port.  Due to BR limits it might actually be better to come in with 3rd rates.  If the 1st rate permits were distributed pro-rated among the clans, and within each clan going to the top pvp player we might have a good system.

I think we can work with this. Solution for the player base: if you are a pvper and have tons of pvp marks help the pve grinders out by sharing those victory marks. PvP helps PvE Grind, helps Crafters.

Well, less than that near the end.  So, maybe it helped the previously-Global player base?  Not sure about EU base though, I rarely was on.
