DrH Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Just started playing the game in the last couple of days, but have been on YouTube looking at tutorials etc so know what should happen... I seem to have a problem with broadsides! I can fire single shots with the space bar, but left mouse button doesn't do anything, neither does left or right brackets - [ and ] Also B doesn't seem to work to reduce sails to 40% and I can't see that T does anything to the sails either! However, ADSWQEZC all work to change direction and raise and lower sails, so it's not a complete keyboard failure. The keyboard is new - a Lenovo, wired into a USB slot, so not a wireless connection problem. I've tried it set on ordinary lower case letters and also put CAP LOCKS on, but makes no difference. In either setting the keys that work work, and those that don't don't. I tried going into Options to see if I could set other keys to fire broadsides, but it seems only to cycle through 1 or 2 combinations, so wasn't a solution for me. Anyone got any ideas?! It's pretty hard playing the game one shot at a time... Thanks, David
Ink Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Captain, as the first step have you tried to verify integrity of game cache in Steam or reinstall the game? Also is there any chance to temporary check the game with another keyboard?
DrH Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 Hi there, Yes, I'm typing this on a different keyboard - a wireless one this time. Both keyboards, when tested in a text document, type the right character e.g. [ and ] for the relevant keys. But the game doesn't recognise these keystrokes with either keyboard. Don't know how to check the game cache, but I can try to reinstall - presumably I do that via Steam? Thanks. David
DrH Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 Sorry, I can't see how to reinstall the game - can you give me some pointers. I'm new to gaming - bought a gaming PC just to play Naval Action! However, I am reasonably au fait with computers so should be able to reinstall OK once I know where to go - couldn't see any options for it in Steam Library, and no search results in response to "reinstall"... David
DrH Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 Found it now - need to delete the game first. Reinstalling now, so will see how I get on. D
DrH Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 Reinstalled the game. Left mouse button now works for broadside, but still no joy from the bracket keys.
Ink Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 To verify integrity of game cache please right click on the game in Steam lib -> properties -> Local Files -> Verify integrity of game cache
