No joke.

I used the button for RP purposes in our small squadron.

I know that UI royal estate is expensive but even without it doing anything was a important little thing.

We did pray for traders, full fleet of indiamans, sailing afk.

Not the point  It had its uses, no matter if it does anything or not.

Plus our accord forbid gambling on board so can't use Play, for rp reasons.

Back to Pray. Ain't a religious thing tied to us humans on the screen, but an act in-character. We still do it, now and then but with the button we had the ritual

And it worked miracles !

I did click the button. I did see the 20 seconds countdown on the screen. Prayer and then amen and set sail.

I do click the button to fire a broadside. I do hear the crew cheering and we cheer as well.

At this point I'm genuinely baffled at the concept: a pray button that does nothing is useful for RP? How? If one wishes to roleplay a religious crew a button doesn't strike me as very immersive.

I pressed that button all the time :-), nothing better to do, i thought it was rather funny and maybe the devs patch something in one day ... unfortunately, it does the same as in real life :-p (I shall refrain from further blasphemy)

That 'play'-thing, i've done it twice, not interested, it might just aswell not be there.

Press "H" to make your crew go prostrate in extra devotional prayer. There's an even longer cool-down so you can just imagine how effective it is.

I thought i read somewhere something official about it being a planned feature that wasn't implemented, but i can't be bothered to search for it now and i might have dreamt it anyhow.

If it's ever back ( i hope not ) i'd like an option to pray in one of the many religions.

Then there'd be a rock-paper-scissor match between the gods or the prayers strenghts if both players are of the same religion. Or maybe a divine diceroll, to decide that my god is better than your god.

Bonus points for the devs if i can have locally recruited vaudoo sailors that make zombies out of their fallen enemies and i have to murder chickens ( or not ) for the pray button to work. Being from the old continent it is unlikely i can be vaudou myself so i'll settle for secretly worshiping Poseidon. ( or i could RP someone like general alexandre dumas [--> good biography] being vaudou... hmmm )
