Capn Rocko Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 (edited) Back on topic... As a PLGV owner, I would say that it is a great novelty ship. It is a beautiful ship to sail and its black paint job alone is enough to strike fear into your enemies hearts. Performance wise, there is much to be desired. The biggest downside is the lack of firepower, which makes ship handling and speed very important. We have experimented with several different setups and there are still unique ways to sail this ship, but it is not near as good as it was upon release. I am curious to see if any changes are made during the upcoming 5th rate rebalance. Overall, I'm glad I spent the marks on the ship. If you are expecting a superior battle ship, then I would not recommend it. Edited November 22, 2017 by Capn Rocko

In a version where PvP is everywhere and loss really matters, the ship for marks feature would be bad but in the current carebear game with the broken eco and gold raining from the sky onto your ship, it is just fine... Could you show me a open world MMO with PVP that does not require any farming of materials or crafting...? I, for one, cannot name any. All MMO's that i've played in my years, always had PVE content woven together with PVP content. For the people that don't like this, there's arena style games like WoT, WoWS and War Thunder.

Thanks for your opinion.

Yeah, but it is not released yet... i downloaded the client already into my library. You bet i can't wait to leave this rotting junk that is the NA vanilla version to play Legends. Let the carebears have 3 PvE servers - I don't care.

Well, I hope that there's people to play both games. I have downloaded and installed the Naval Action Legends client this morning, and I'll wait for the servers to be up. At that point I'll try it, and I might use it in the future for a quick game if I don't have that much time. But the reason that i bought Naval Action, was to have an open world game set in the Age of Sail, therefore Naval Action Legends will not become my main title to play. I have no illusions that many PVP players will be leaving NA for NAL because they don't care about the PVE part of the game, never to return, nothing I can change about that. I respect your right to your own opinion, just as I expect to be respected when i choose to disagree with you.

When i bought the game i envisioned the community to be much more interested in PvP and fair & fun battles... but it's not the case. Most are only cowards that run even when they have a advantage and only really fight when they have a ridiculous advatage. Ask @Liq about it... of course it is even worse for him, since he is a known and skilled PvP player... So for me as soon as Legends is out, the vanilla game will go into the trash bin. You should of seen when we last took it, they had one day over a dozen 1st rates out there grinding. We showed up lipped it and took it. That morinng before the port battle over a Dozen US 1st rates where spotted leaving an heading back to there coast line. They didn't show up for the port battle to defend. It was a safe zone for them to grind. I bet you on GLOBAL since US and GB have ports there you will find folks doing the safety grind. While I'll say a lot of pirates do the same at kidds, but to say those aren't safe zones is just kidding your self. You have to have some one pretty die hard come out that far to jump into your missions and it does happen from time to time.
IndianaGeoff Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 The game needs safe zones for low intensity play. Grinding, practicing, leveling and just a quicky kill. It's ok to have hard mode nations, but let's be honest... Most of them are or have alts in the biggie nations.

You can have that without cutting out dozens of main ports from the PVP equation. This is PVP server yet 20% of all ports and areas around those ports are PVP-less. What do the devs expect us to fight over? The entirety of the NE coast is a safe zone now. How much more must we sacrifice in order to protect people who don't want to be involved in the mainstay of the server? Edited November 23, 2017 by Slim Jimmerson

Number of players on has improved significantly. PvP just moved away from inside Charleston Harbor.

PvP just moved away from inside Charleston Harbor. Are you EU? Where does PVP usually take place there? In Global the average prime time pop is 130, and pvp is mostly OW hunting and the usual hodge podge of nations at a few Freeports. PBs have settled down since update. Finding pvp is tossed up to luck, from what I've seen general enthusiasm has died down, not enough excitement happens in a single sit down to keep players involved and our average numbers are dropping This is just my opinion. The reason I ask is because maybe its just the population disparity between our servers. It seems the EU population is rising while the Global pop is declining, hence the extra 30 average players we've gotten the past 30 days according to steam charts, global has lost that much and we steady about 100 average 7pm EST. Final question to EU. Hypothetically, you have a fleet of 18 players in your nation. Where do you send that fleet to make sure it will run into another fleet of the nation of your choice to PVP against? not including port battles. Edited November 23, 2017 by Slim Jimmerson

I can vouch that that population decline on global are players going to the EU server. It's folks who are sick and tired of the same situations on global because of the same people on a server with low pop. People have had enough of it and are moving on, even if the other server has port time windows, they find it more enjoyable because there are more players to interact with. There are a number of reasons for the move, but not really going to put effort in explaining it since most already know why. A server merge is happening eventually anyway and my apologies since this is not the thread's topic but entirely different. ------------- The pirate lgv is not worth 150 pvp marks.
