Werewolf Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I vote wipe... new player retention at release will be much higher and reviews much better without new players coming in against vets with 20 billion gold and the Spanish Armada in their warehouses. Just my opinion. And no, I don't wanna lose all my crap either, but we were told from the beginning, and I knew it when I signed the dotted line. No complaints here either way. 2

Yeah imagine if they just got rid of all the crazy magic upgrades and used ships as built with TINY bonuses for skills and wood types... and locked in skills and perks ship based.. would be so fun but the meta types would leave crying
Hodo Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 A wipe doesnt really effect me much either way. I use mostly smaller ships that are easy to replace. So replacing my Renomee on the Global server is easy, maybe a week of work on my part. And on EU... lol all I use is store bought ships.. I am sure I can find a fir-crew space privateer, or fir-crew Snow or Brig. Both work just fine for what I do.
Farrago Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I would not stop playing if there was another wipe but there has been absolutely no hint that there will ever be such drastic change to gameplay that it seems necessary. Make it harder or easier to make money. Buff or Nerf ships. Implement (or reimplement) ROE or timer changes. Basically the only change I can see that would be a big enough is the implementation of a smarter AI assisted but player driven economy and there has been no hint this will ever take place in a meaningful way. This doesn’t seem to be on the todo list prior to release.
Sea Nettle Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) The game has been and still is for sale on Steam. Changing the state of the game from early access to release isn't going to do anything. From the Steam community's point of view the game is released. There isn't going to be an influx of players after that "ceremony". As for returning players, that's not likely either. They left because of X gameplay and nothing has changed in that sense. Do to the community dwindling, the ideas/implementations for the game become insular as the only ones making suggestions are the ones who enjoy what everyone else didn't and stuck around. More of the previous isn't going to bring people back. Further wipes that leave advantages in the hands of certain players won't do the game any favors either. Quite frankly, leaving blueprints and XP available makes restarting the economy pointless as those people will dominate and exploit their advantages again. Edited December 22, 2017 by Sea Nettle
IceBurg Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 From what i see, the Devs are putting just a few more finishing touches on and that's it. Ship it,. they just had final ship tuning, and we know how much the Dev's like to fidget with the numbers, so final, sorta means final. this game is going for release in the next few months, Here is why, they finally put it on sale, something they haven"t done in two years, but still the numbers don't grow, now we all know the publishers and the people paying for the project have the last say, what do they say when sales don't increase when prices drop? they say "end this project as fast as you can" so yeah, no new plans, no drastic ship changes, just finish the game, call it released or whatever and move assets somewhere else, they can make more money there.

After they have updated engine to 5 it will open new windows and give more space for new content and features.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 IMO we need to level it out on release. Knowledge of how game is played is never lost. That is the edge the EA crowd has. No need for assets.
