Captain Pinky Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Hi guys I'm just wondering if there is somewhere where we can read more on some of the more complex parts of the game. Some things I want to learn about are the repair system. For example I noticed numbers over the repair buttons what do they mean? How many repair packs are used in and out of battle etc. How does the reonforment system work? And is it possible to see if an enemy can call reinforcements in? When are port battles available and how do we get involved? How do the skill books and the admiralty perks work. Are they one offs etc? Thanks in advance for any help.
Guest Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Hi Pinky. Im writing this on the go and from memory. I hope some of this helps. This game has evolved many times and so some of the Youtube videos are outdated. However, there are still many many videos that can walk you through lots of the basics...manual sailing, economy/crafting, UI, etc. Additional and detailed info can be found on Naval Action Wiki or Game Labs Forum. Repairs: When you set sail in a ship, you want to have Hull repairs, Rig repairs and Rum. (The amounts you take will depend on the ship you sail) When in battle, hitting the 5 key brings up repairs. At that point (if you brought repairs on your ship) you can press 1 to repair your hull, 2 to repair your sails or 3 to replace crew. Once used, a number or clock will appear over it. The repair cannot be used again until the cool down clock is at 0. Hitting the number 4 engages an emergency repair - helpful when your rudder or pump is knocked out. There is more to this, but staying with basics. Reinforcements can be called if you are attacked in National waters. When you're sailing in National waters, a message will appear on the left side of the screen saying that "these waters are protected"....this means that you can call in reinforcements if you are attacked. Port Battles - When a Nation/Clan wants to capture a port, they must first raise hostility points in the waters of that port. This is done by fighting /doing missions in those waters. When enough hostility has been raised, it will trigger a Port Battle that automatically schedules. I recommend you look at joining a clan if you want to participate in those. Skill books are knowledge for your Captain. When you get a skill book, right click on it, select use and its added to your knowledge base. Then when you unlock ship knowledge slots, you can use the skill books to enhance the performance of your ship. Perks - Captains, according to rank earn perk points. Click on Perks, and then you can add Captains perks using your points. These perks, once chosen, cant be changed unless you have a note to change them... Hope that helps. Good luck
