So first off want to say this is a fun game and very different from the usual but I can see its still very much a work in progress.

Some parts i found very cool too many to list but it has some great aspects however I wanted to point out some things i thought were fairly big flaws.

The rum usage and repairs : I dont know where to start on this, I kind of understand it but i dont think it has a place in a game like this tbh. Or it needs modifying a fair bit. To get in a fight with a player who continuously regenerates crew just feels hugely broken. Add onto that regenerating the hull. In the early game most ships its not noticable, but late game it becomes insane when some guy with 400 crew down to 200 is suddenly drinking rum and getting back to full crews. This needs either a maximum use per battle, or a much longer cooldown. For me these should be 1 per battle items and repairs should be limited, not bringing the hull back up by 20% or so.

Secondly the UI is horrendous but I heard its being remade which is great news. Im guessing its just a placeholder so ignore this point if so.

Thirdly some broken ships. Some of the ships which seem to be the ship of choice is hugely broken. A HUGE THING in multiplayer games is variation. If everyone is sailing in the same ship to fight in and this ship outclasses everything else your game is broken. There shouldnt be a ship which can outrun nearly everything, out turn most ships and out shoot it. If you are making a multiplayer game making a ship which is fast enough to outrun anything that can fight it and fighty enough to kill anything that can outrun it is broken imo. You cant give players a tool like that as players who like easy fights will gravitate towards it and just prey on players with no repercussions ever. Its not great gameplay for me and some ships need to be toned down. Im sure everyone playing will know the main ship im talking about.

Other than that great fun so far ive enjoyed a lot of aspects of the game and look forward to it getting greater and the playerbase growing.

Oh ps, there needs to be a tutorial and more protection of new players. Players themselves cant be relied upon to defend their countrymen in online games, so there needs to be an NPC fleet patrolling home nations which attacks players who get too close or who stay for too long.

CPinky, you came at a good time for the UI and tutorials, which are a current dev focus.  You will get to see the long awaited UI after seeing and living with the placeholder UI.  Gives you good perspective.  Some of the other stuff is being actively discussed and debated in the forums right now, and the ships do need more balancing I agree.  Thanks for a new player's perspective.  Perceptive, as someone mentioned above.  ;)

Thanks all for your replies. Still loving the game more and more as I play it. Interested to see if they sort out the repairs. Seems they are looking at it from Other posts.

I'm glad to see a lot of people feel the same. It seems so out of place in a simulation feeling game to have rum work as it does and repairs too. I hope at the least they limit quantities or lower the effects of things like rum. Or remove the ability to use it during the fight.

Welcome to the game Captain, and well said. Thanks to new players giving input, the devs will know which way to aim to help our new captains and ultimately grow the game. Thanks for taking the time to do this. If you are on pvp2 and ever need anything, shoot me a message (Werwolf) and I would be glad to help.

Captain Pinky,  very precise and spot on items on the problems. Interesting that new players can see and understand them easly. I hope developers are aware and are trying to improve and solve these.
