I simply cannot grasp why there is a contract limit. I think we can agree that an ultimate goal is to have a player driven, AI assisted economy. But 10 contracts per person severely limits that. If I want to buy materials for shipbuilding at two ports on the map my contracts are filled. Want to buy some upgrades? nah. Craft cannons? No luck for you since there are many different types of cannons which 10 contracts are not enough for.

I suggest removing this limit or extending it from 32 to 1024 asap for a better economy. If players  want to craft and trade, let them craft and trade.

Ten is plenty, there's no need for more.  If you need to buy that much stuff at once then you clearly have the gold, and then you should use the EU Trader.  Contracts are instantly filled and then you set another.

Two regions of the game where this is especially important are cannons- and shipbuilding. You cannot buy supplies for shipbuilding and use your contracts in a reasonable amount for something else. With cannons you are really screwed. Want to sell cannons? Well, you can't even get into mediums or cannonades because your 10 contracts aren't even enough to sell all long class cannons.

But let's say for the sake of argument you are correct and 10 is plenty. There is still no reason at all to keep a limit there. The normal player won't probably use very very many, but why would you unnecessarily limited those who do?

Cannon is admittedly a good example since there are so many types and if you specialize, well then you can fill up contracts quickly.  I had not thought of that.  However, I really can't think of a lot of other such specializations where that happens simultaneously.  My comment above applies more to sell contracts.

"Normal players" as you called them, shouldn't have any typical reasons for all those simultaneously.  Cannon though would seem a good reason.

Contracts are used to trade for profit, not just to buy what you need. Buying from EU traders would be the very last option when gold would mean something.

Devs gave up on that, the eco part even got deleted from the steam description already.

Just look how every change is working against economy: Capturable ships, ships for marks, reduced ship cost and  suddenly 100% increased income resulting in massive inflation. Safe zones and easy escapes result in less ships sinking/less demand. Labour contracts for marks. Buffed npc trading resource margins. And recently BR restrictions limiting the use of firstrates. People are not only earning way too much, they are restricted to use/sink all those meaningless resources.

Originally we only had 5 contracts btw.

Right, so hello kitty me then? There really needs to be either no limit, or a much higher limit because I fully agree that it's kinda killing this game. One of the things anyway.
