Hotfix for patch 13. Le Gros Ventre Refit + Swivels!!!

Dear Devs , please create skirm mission similar to potbs where people could come from any Nation and fight without loosing ships. This will satisfy those who want outlaw battles back. This is also a great tool for PB/group pvp practice.

I play 5 games right now, and work on all of them a better player experience.

i'm complaining now, outlaw battles are BS.  glad they are gone.

Can't you just do the same thing by attacking an NPC or set your ship on fire and explode? I have seen some do that ;)

outlaw battles are the KEY element for going pirate

without it you have neutered the main reason many play/stay in the pirate nation

why would you not make a post explaining specifically what you see the main exploits as being, and then asking for feedback, especially from pirates, for fixing it

main exploit that i saw was other nations rolling pirate alts, tagging a pirate(s), and then their nation clan buddies rolling in

most pirates were fine with that, and those that weren't shouldn't be playing pirate anyhows if you couldn't fix a work around

how about making it that pirates can still attack pirates but the outlaw battle mechanics are simply changed to same timer as normal battle entry tiumer, and call one sside 'pirate (attacker) and the other side "pirate defender" 

or make it that only pirates can join outlaw battles - both relatively easy fixes

There is about a dozen more exploits that ruined new players. Removal of outlaw battles will only benefit population.

So how is removing outlaw battle going to work if you claim pirate nation is supposed to be some sort of hard mode nation? Now my nation will be over run by carebears flying my banner. Back to being a nation with a black flag again? Outlaw battles is sole reason to be a pirate. Your supposed to have to look over your shoulder 24/7 because your a wanted player. Your a criminal as a pirate, that’s what it means. There is not supposed to be laws in pirate nation. What are you guys going to do to make pirate nation hard like it is advertised if outlaw battle is removed? Make there be 2 pirate factions please like suggested before. Nassau pirates and outlaw pirates.

I have a suggestion if you wish to remove it. Make a pirate have to earn his way for this title. Make a pirate have to commit a dozen crimes to become a pirate and give the other nations a reason to hunt down pirates. Double their gold count, pvp mark count etc for attacking a pirate and killing them because they are criminals to their nation. Remove pirate as a nation and don’t make it available for the new guy who can’t even sail his ship to join “ hardmode” faction. Make it a bad thing to be a pirate in the game rather than log in to be a POTCO character.

This was the whole reason I went pirate; without outlaw battles pirates are just another nation.

 

Honestly, this next patch combined with the systematic dismantlement of the player economy via ship notes, has ruined the game for me. I think I will go play something else.

On Global server it's already everyone teamed up against pirates but something would have to replace port battles for us as most of us enjoy doing them.

we got rid of some idiots from pirate nation and for the first time in months and months pirate nation chat isn't a daily toxic fest because folks knew if they cried, they died

as for running hard mode - try being a pirate who comes to bermuda in a 1-3 man group and sinks your ships - THAT is fun - though you rueds like to call us cowards for doing it

 

I'm pretty sure ALOHA went pirate around the same time the RDNN guys did to "zerg" up the pirates.  

Speaking of toxic jerks, It's ironic you bring that up.  In the week or so I've been part-time on the EU I've seen some interesting things in global chat.  One was a dude going on a racist tirade about russians being inferior and animals.  He was a member of your clan I think......ALOHA (pirate).  I also saw The Banished Privateer talking mad shit towards the Russians when he got ganked doing hostility....leader of ALOHA (pirate).  Just recently.....and I kid you not....I saw the EXILE guys posting a video that has been making the rounds on reddit and porn sites in global multiple times.  I guess it was funny.  They're also pirates.  

Whatever toxicity you might of had in nation chat seems to now be perpetuated by pirates in global.  While I'm definitely no angel in the realm of public opinion, I do know the definition of hypocrisy.  I appreciate you calling sailing up to bermuda to snag a lone trader or 2.... hardcore and applaud you at doing so.  I'd also call that a waste of time.  To each his own.  

Frankly this thread is about pirate mechanics...not anecdotal stories.  Let's get back to it.

or simply don't allow new accounts to roll pirtate since it is hard mode 

i've been an avid NA supporter for a couple of years, logging in excess of 4,000 playing hours, have stuck through thick or thin, but this one has me just faceplaming

or alternatively - create the pirate nation nation in nassau that the devs have mentioned on occasion, and create the OUTLAW faction that they have hinted at also

Admin said it would take too much time that they don't have.

I am not talking about current 1st rates, I am talking about Naval Edition/Pirate Refits ships with better stats and only available to Nationals or Pirates.

For example, I take newly built 1st rate + 25 pvp marks = Naval Edition 1st rate (only Nationals can sail these ships). 

or I take Pirate built 1st rate + 25 pvp marks = Pirate refit 1st rate. (+2% for all stats etc..) (only Pirates can sail these ships). 

 

 

First of all... Pirates should not be able to build any ship of the line. 

I cant find one documented case of a pirate sailing a "74" or bigger ship.   95% of all pirates sailed in Brigs, Schooners, or other "unrated" ships.   Teach had a 5th rate, but a "corvette" 5th rate, which would be akin to a Cerberus or a Renomee. 

And furthermore by this point in history (1770-1820) piracy was mostly dead in the Caribbean.   So the idea of the "Pirate Nation" is gone.   All of the pirates of note are all dead or retired by this point.

We are satisfied with the pirate republic.  New mechanics always can cause problems and if they cause problems consistently they will get removed.  We tried outlaw thing 2 times and in both cases it was causing more problems that it was giving benefits.  

Remember when you could attack your own nation and turn pirate.. great mechanic for a single player game. Not so great for mmo. Because to work well it required a long questionnaire with multiple cancel opportunities.

Outlaw battles are gone - forever. I am focused on the tutorial and UI and figuring out how to make 1 server work.

Well it's to late to make any changes to Pirate nation and remove any ships. It will simply make people quit, so instead we have to make an addition. Get it?

I think that purchasing the game entitles everyone to play the game as they see fit. Personally, I have the same rights as the guy next to me,

I don't get to tell him what to do or just demand to change the whole game to my play style.

We need more players so the game needs to be more inclusive and not exclusive. I don't care if they POTCO characters, Master and Commander or any other role play for that matter, with the right attitude they might become NA Characters.
