Of course they do penetrate ...and of course you play long enough, so you know that many other battles happened, with similar outcome. Edited September 27, 2017 by Cortez

Rebrall Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 As much as i like the wasa its not that op just seems that way me and @Jeheil have tested a Connie and Wasa both LO/WO builds in a full 360 turn and the connie smoked the wasa and another two clan mates went broadside to broadside with a lo/wo connie and wasa both had longs on the bottom the wasa and longs on both bottoms and carros on top at 100m and the wasa only just pipped the connie by a 1/4 of a bubble, havent tested it against an aggy yet
Sir Texas Sir Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 5 minutes ago, rediii said: Because you built and equiped it wrong. Liveoak ships are very bad, even in portbattles. Also you equip a wasa with medium 32 long 24 and top carros. Uh he said they put both longs on top and bottom, where are you getting they put mediums? Actually depending the us of the ship Mediums aren't bad on bottoms if your going for a DPS build. WIth some combo's your Mediums and Longs can have the same reload. Now if your going for a pen/demast build you want all longs. Though I do agree LO/WO is crap builds now a days unless your doing a grind build. It took forever to get some of our clan mates so use to the tanked out builds for Port Battles to undrestand this. I can make a Teak/WO that is just as tanky but has more speed, doesn't loose it's Turn Rate, Acceleration and such and will out perform most Lo/Wo and Wo/Wo in battles. It's all about the right combo of open slots and mods. Wasa has a major weakness in crew with all those guns. If you can get that crew down and get them to run out of rum or be on cool down those guns don't mean crap if they can't get them reloaded. I have been tempting to do a same build test of both ships as I think the Connie needs some love. It needs it's old speed and turn rate back for sure if they are going to keep things like they are. The Aggy needs some of it's old stats back too.

I see no positives about buying notes with marks and not needing materials to craft. Why? Because players who argue that materials for rare upgrades should be fougth over, but when it comes to ships, the arguement changes ... Same reasoning for cartagena tar: "if you want it, you can capture the port". People want easy ships, they make them capturable, people want big ships, they make notes for them ... Are you guys certain that you're posting on the correct forum? This is NA, not Legends you know. Traders and crafters are useless apparently, so why not kick them out entirely? They are not needed, because some can't be bothered to collect what is needed and thus they ask for easy acces ... but don't speak about their beloved upgrades, then they love a good monopoly, nothing wrong with them ... If you want a certain build, you can ask a crafter, if you want the materials you can ask the trader, if you need a port for rare resources you can go and capture it. Lots of 'reasons' are just laziness, only one play-style is permitted, they are definately not in the interest of the game, only for some/few players. Exactly. Entire game is hollowed out and simplified because supposedly that's what people want - thought the whole point of Legends was so that those who wanted simplicity could go there and those who wanted complexity had NA, but apparently not. Let's see how long it takes before people get bored of running missions and zero meaning just like it was before the asset wipe, meanwhile Legends is looking more attractive by the day that NA offers less and less and suffers from more and more flaws.
Slim McSauce Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 As a crafter I'm worried about more ship notes and combat marks becoming the primary currency. It's a Legends-y fix to what's suppose to be NOT Legends. Trading, crafting, buildings, all made irrelevant because there's a good ship that you can make magically appear out of thin air with ANY wood you want in ANY friendly port. Completely goes against the philosophy of the game being realistically/historically appropriate, a philosophy that has kept a lot of GOOD features from the game for sake of it. Now we're just gonna throw that away to make the game easy and simple......again? We've been down this road before. 1
Baptiste Gallouédec Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Make only the less used ships as available for note, like cutter, niagara, cerberus, belle poule, essex, Ingermanland, 3rd rate, maybe Pavel. Nobody craft them anyway as they have no place in game and no one would buy them. About the Wasa case, it is easy: most of the ships are unhistorically nerfed bc: "balance" (Endymion with super bad wind profile and turnrate + weak, Indef with awfull turn rate and super slow, Prince & privateer with worse downwind profile than Lynx while having more Square sails..) Wasa stay as it is and is downclassed as a 4th rate while faster than the "3rdrate" and superior in broadsides weight. How does that make sense ? If Wasa stay as it is, remove the unhistorical nerfs you've done to all ships for "gameplay purpose"

Baptiste Gallouédec Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Ship notes allow players not to wait for the crafter to craft their ship and allow to go back in Ow faster, they could even replace port's ai ships in shop for what i know, no one would notice a difference as long as you can't access the best ones with best wood combination with it.
Baptiste Gallouédec Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 (edited) I've asked a few times about rebalancing the less used ships or giving them a purpose and i've been told that for some they will always be the underdog.. That's the ones i could see available as shipnotes as they would serve the "quick replacement yet better than crew space ones". I am sad to see devs finding it ok to assign some ships for ingame tasks like "pve farmer" indefatigable, "scout & tagger" unrated ships, "pvp" surprise & pirate frigate, "heavy pvp" constit & bellona, "PB" heavy rattle, agga & 1st rate, but it looks like it's the meta they choose.. and right now Wasa could nearly fill all of these tasks ^^ Edited September 28, 2017 by Baptiste Gallouédec
Eyesore Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Sure, everything is unbalanced (that's why we all (have to) use the same ships), some ships get more use than others. I sail the 'weak' ships (as you call them) still, don't even try to do portbattles anymore (How boring can a fight be? I'd rather go do a mission then (and those also have all the same shiptype in them now ...) Having notes for ships kills open world, no matter which ships. They circumvent trading, crafting, hauling, coöperation, portresources, etc. If you don't have the ship you like ... then sail what you have or have a better clanorganization (more crafters or whatever your clan is missing) or have a replacement at hand already. Notes do not make any sense, other than in a Legends-setting.

Indef is excellent carronade frigate if built light, unrated ships are excellent cheap pvp ships in small groups, not just taggers. Surprise and renomme are used for pvp primarily because the are hard to catch and gank, etc. a hull is just a hull, build makes the role. Try a teak/teak renomme with elite pirate rig and a few skillbooks, it runs upwind better than pfrig and as well as surprise. One guy in my clan has a fully kitted 3rd rate that dropped from dead mans chest - we use it as the tagging ship. wasa maybe needs a bit of scaling back, but unless it is nerfed into the ground it will always be an excellent basis for builds due to sail plan, gun weights, and hull. 1

I've made and sold several Cerberus which were particularly requested in quantity, and made a couple Belles for myself. There are people who request Pavels, too.
