victor Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 (edited) When you use a ship in the fleet for a mission, does this ship use the actually equipped cannons (i.e. long or carronades) and/or benefit from upgrades/skillbooks installed, or does it just switches to "base" equip (medium + no upgrades)? CaptVonGunn Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Guns yes, Up[grades pretty sure.. skill books no(your not on the ship) .. It will also use repairs in it when you repair in OW after the battle. You can also move things between ships cargo In the battle instance if you are both stopped of slow enough to inspect[x}
victor Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 Thanks a lot. Anyone else can confim?
Guest Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Hm, I faintly recall fleet ships not getting any guns (like they used to in the past), but rather that they had to be fitted even on fleet ships. That was when I tested it a few months ago, having realized that the escort fleet ships I used to protect my trader did nothing. Easiest way would be to buy an lynx in the shop and see if it shoots or not.

I am sure that you have to fit cannons to have fleet ships fire, but my question was if - in case you fit "special cannnons" (like long or carro) - the fleet ship uses the fitted ones or just perform as if it was equipped with regular mediums.

Aaah, okay. Well, still easy enough to chuck some carros on a lynx to find out, fleet ships perform so poorly that I never felt that they deserved anything better than mediums

But I may be willing to try in order to speed up ship skill gain. In case you enter with a fleet, does the mission spawn an additional IA enemy or they just stay as they are if you enter them alone? On occasion I've brought 7th rate fleet ships to soak up the initial volleys inside of fleet missions and cause panic so that I can swoop in and board the AI ships.
victor Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 (edited) thks for info. I guess also that a fleet ship does not award ship skill points (if you bring in - let's say - a player sailed connie and a fleet surp, you gain ship XP only for the connie, correct?). Most likely correct, yup.
