So any idea if the prototype for open sea will be seen before year end? Just wondering.

 

This is already one of my favourite and I can`t wait to see what the future bring.

It'll be ready when the devs think it's ready. I'm not in a hurry. Well, I actually AM in a hurry to test and play it. But what I mean is that it'll come when it's ready to come and there's no sense in getting impatient about it .

Just asking because it was posted somewhere that the alpha was this fall (which it was) and early access on Steam before end of 2014 and that early access meant a early prototype of open seas.

Prototype open world map needs several things to be implemented before going out for testing, we believe that we can get it done before the end of the year. Initially we will be testing the map size and travel time on the open world. Current size of our Caribbean is 16 mln sq km. It currently takes 30 to 60 mins real time in the fastest ship to reach La Grenade from Guadeloupe.

 

And don`t worry im not impatient really happy with what we have now, just curious as if it is still the plan.

Infrastructure is untested, Valve does not recommend us to launch pre orders on steam. And sea trials took some time away, but we are glad we did it. Probably you too.

I've always wondered whatever happened to the "Generic Frigate" seen here?

 

The "Heavy Corvette" is the Surprise, the Leda-Class is the Trincomalee... where is this sea-green and white beauty I saw so long ago?  Also, the Schooner from that page looks a bit more like the HMS Halifax (1768) than the Lynx.

Did you guys decide to go with Replica ships instead?

 

Just curios, of course.  She looks a bit like the Lyme-Class Frigates.

That looks like HMS Macedonian as USS Macedonian.  So we have a Lively after all  Maybe?

 

Especially when you look at the figure head as seen here:

 

 

EDIT:  Nope, never mind.  Upon closer inspection, the bow looks nothing like the Lively-class.  Good guess though.  I like the Spanish

Your close, although its already said it will be the Caribbean but you got the nations in the game data files correct, does it mean they will be it? No, but files do tell a story...

Figured the pirates would be the Barbary kind since you mentioned Europe.  But obviously the Caribbean.  There was a screenshot somewhere of the coast of Cuba.
