Mamen Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) New mechanic INTEL. EDITED: To create more PVP content I suggest to add intel (very simple) It could work between just two clans (also between two nations...up to community and devs). So lets say clan alpha wants to hunt down clan beta. Clan alpha pays to npc(admirality or wherever) some gold (amount can be determined by target clan size-active members in last 7 days lets say) and for next 24 or 48 hours recieves approx locations of clan beta ships gatherings (above 3 ships on certain limited area with amount and rate type info?) every 20-30 mins on map... also clan beta (who is the target doesnt know about it) Edited August 2, 2017 by Mamen 1
Archaos Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 As if traders don't already have it tough, with slow speeds and poor economy to deal with, you now want to broadcast their positions. Bad idea. 1

So lets say clan alpha wants to hunt down clan beta traders and cripple their economy. Clan alpha pays to npc(admirality or wherever) some gold (amount can be determined by target clan size-active members in last 7 days lets say) and for next 24 or 48 hours recieves approx locations of clan beta trade ships every 20-30 mins on map... also clan beta (who is the target doesnt know about it) I don't know, I like the idea, however, I could see big clans using it to pick on and destroy smaller clans... especially in pirate waters. Not to de rail your thread, but what about Enemy of the State to drive PVP? What: Enemy of the State (EOTS), a player who has within a time period sunk over a specified number of Players. A player is flagged as Enemy of the State, admiralty places a bounty on the player. How: Any player how has sunk a specified number of players, say 5, in OW, within 24 hours, is tagged as Enemy of the State. Once a player is tagged as EOTS the Admiralty will automatically place a bounty on the player's head that tied to the total number of players the EOTS has sunk within a rolling 24 hours. Notes with players last know location will drop by fishing and loot (similar to the old system). An EOTS board added to national ports that will list current EOTS and the bounty on their head. The player must return to a national port to claim the EOTS bounty. Optional: Sinking a player ship, EOTS or not, will have a lootable ships’ nameplate. To claim an EOTS, one must turn in the nameplate to the Admiralty. Nameplates can only be redeemed for a bounty of EOTS if obtained after the EOTS bounty has been placed. All other nameplates are for “bragging rights”. Why: Primarily to drive PVP through the hunting of players who are already actively participating in PVP. Calling active PVP player location will drive and focus the PVP in an area. Obviously, the numbers could be balanced and or BR used. The only exception to BR use is traded ships would have to be included and counted above their BR. Edited August 2, 2017 by Daguse

Bad idea. you might right Archaos but point of the topic is more about to develope the idea and now Im thinkin that intel could show gathering of ships on certain area (maybe above 3 ships with just amount and rate types info?) 11 minutes ago, Daguse said: I don't know, I like the idea, however, I could see big clans using it to pick on and destroy smaller clans... especially in pirate waters. Vernon Merrill Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Strictly traders seems kinda, I dont know... just kinda mean. I think if something like that was to be introduced, it should be "captain"-based. So you get intel on the "officers" of a certain clan.... But then we start to get into the "reputation-system" discussion and things go off the rail real quick... But suggestions never hurt, mna... keep em coming! Talking about the same three topics gets boring.
CaptVonGunn Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I suggested this idea Months ago.... IT works only within a nation and only between ports linked by land.... A ship not of the controlling nation passes a Port close enough to be ID in the given viability conditions The Trade channel for that port gets the msg... Pirate 5th rate ect.. no exact ship type or player name... Off KPR... 10 min real time later the closest ports to KPR get the same msg with the time stamp from the original(simulates the Single towers systems that were around in some areas ect.. 10 min later the next set of towns out and so one.. This wont help in the islands so much but then communications there were only as fast as the ship going point to point... Not detailed but some...
