Vernon Merrill Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Anyone see the Xebec posted on the Facebook page?! 850 crew?!?!?!? WTF!?!?!?
Liq Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) I'm guessing that's not the Xebec's crew, but a spectator ship's crew (or maybe just some special dev-server settings?). Same thing when they posted a picture of the Hermione, 850 crew was shown. Edited July 28, 2017 by Liquicity
Anolytic Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 All the ships in the picture have green text above them, indicating that the 850 crew is on a ship not in the picture.
Vernon Merrill Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 Righto. Anyone know what crew she'll hold?! And where is my Prince de Neufchâtel?!
Anolytic Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) Actually. Nvm. It looks from the screenshot like the middle ship, the Xebec, is the one sailed by the one taking the screenshot. The crew number, 850, is probably generic though. But from the radar map positions it looks like the screenshot taker is sailing the Xebec. There are 4 ships in the battle according to the radar, and the highlighted one is the middle Xebec. There's also one ship outside of view though. Looks like the ship has 32 guns. I think the 216 people required on gunnery might be a bit excessive though. Edited July 28, 2017 by Anolytic
Sella Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) The crew of the xebec will probably be 240. The 850 is just a placeholder as we have seen a couple of times before Edited July 28, 2017 by Sella22
Iroquois Confederacy Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 This could seriously rustle the jimmies of the Saint Clair's Defeat. (My Surprise may suddenly be outclassed close-hauled!)
Ukupanipo Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Been waiting for a thing like this for a while. Glad to finally see a xebec!
Vernon Merrill Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 I feel like we're off Port Mahon instead of Port Au Prince... 1
Arthur Peckington Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 I think it looks great. We need more Fore and Aft rigs in this game. 1
Sir Texas Sir Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Should be a pirate ship to add to the Pirate frigate since we don't have SOL's in our Pirate Den other than the 3rd rates. You know since the other nats get all them other ships easly. If a Nat wants one they can trade or steal it the old fashion way. 2

I agree with the principle You mean no cross nation trade possible with this then ? As easy for a pirate as easy for a Nat 1

It goes both ways. I don't mind the limit as I just go trade with another nation for the permits. That reminds me I need to make a Pirate Frigate and take it to another nation that asked for one in exchange for some white oak. The pesky french around Mort though.....hmmmm...lol
Sir Texas Sir Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 @Hodo how have you not posted on this one yet?
Sir Texas Sir Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Was looking for info on this ship and only found this that speaks of the crew and guns. In 1749 a proposal was made by the commander of the Toulon dockyard to build four chebecs as an effective protection against the Barbary pirates. The corsairs primarily relied on fast and agile chebecs, while the frigates and sloops-of-war of the French navy proved ill-adapted to fight them. So it was logical to confront them with the same type of ships. The chebec Le Requin was built in 1750 - 1751 by Majorcan shipwrights at the Royal Dockyard in Toulon for the French navy. She was launched on 14 March 1751. Her crew were 220 men, her armament were twenty-four 8-pdr-guns. She was to show excellent sailing qualities and served in the French navy until 1770. 1

When I actually see any BLACK on Global sail a fore and aft rigged ship, you can have it all to yourselves. Until then give it to those that do.

I mean Pirates on EU had Lineship Fleets before some Nations were able to build them ... Btw. were thoose Xebecs on the Screenshoot able to beat the Essex? Edited July 29, 2017 by Lonar

We don't ask, pirates are generous enough to deliver them to us, free of charge

Simply use rear-admiral-club associate card, get tagged, surrender the ship. Done ( how the hell the present situation around mort has anything to do with cross-nation trade is beyond me )
Kanay Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 (edited) A ship I am waiting patiently since a while but looking at the screenshot 2 things come to my mind directly , those sails colors o_O, red and white stripes will be better already but those i'm not sure, for a French made ship, " Le Requin" ( The Shark ), I'd expect it to not have this color, wondering if there is any historical backup for such sails color or if it's pure fantasy here. Hope we could set some whitish colored sails or choose different tints of them for our ships, this one in screenshot will probably make my eyes burn during long trips, and how will transparent sails work with those is another mystery ... Other thing i'm now wondering about is the heavy roll it seems to have, might simply be an illusion from the screenshot tho, can be interesting to get more range and also be a great handicap in many other situations. Edit: really hope there will be also a trader version of this ship too Edited July 29, 2017 by Kanay
