Has anyone ever used this beauty in competitive OW PvP ( Not sinking some new player in a gank ) to any success? It's a gorgeous ship but seems not all too useful gameplay wise / in the meta...

I heared some people used it quit effective as fireship

It is not totaly crap, same Hp and 1 cm more ammor then the aga, better turn rate, but less Cannons. It is a about 0.6kn slower then the aga but relative good upwind and it has 4 bow and stern chaser.

To expensive for a pleb thats not getting victory marks to try out some different builds, but from experience with the redeemable pre wipe, didnt like it.

It's a beautiful ship, and the stats are good as well. But sailing it feels a bit like sailing a bathtub and shooting at it is so easy.

I like the ship. It has nice firepower (load with longs and carronade mix and you do loads of damage in a battle), excellent turn rate, a *decent* profile (decent for a tubby fourth rate, at least), a very bouncy hull, and the masts are thicker than the average fourth rate. I like the ship overall, but I'm still not sure if it beats the Ingermanland as my personal favorite fourth rate. As others have said, it is a very large target so you have to mind your angles (Wapen has a nice fore-and-aft profile to bounce, but lacks signifcant tumblehome to aid in bouncing) at all times to make sure you bounce shots and don't take too much damage. 

I've done a few duels and small battles pre-wipe with the redeemable. One small battle consisted of me and a first rate going at each other's masts. I lost the demasting competition, but the first rate had to surrender one of his masts and all of his double charge to get mine down (Wapen's masts are very tough). Now that we can customize the build and aren't limited to the mahogany redeemable, the ship has proven to me to be quite capable of taking out other fourth rates, as long as you can control the range the engagement is fought at. Her biggest enemy in a fourth rate fight is the Ingermanland with her 32pd long guns which will inflict damage on the Wapen at ranges and angles that the 24pd longs of other fourth rates can't. Wapen skippers also have to watch out for sneaky Constitutions and Indefatigables that try to come in close with their carronades and smash hulls into submission.

Pre wipe I captured about 100 of em. In a regular frigate or pirate frigate. Worthless piece of junk.

Yeah, i remember everyone sailing around with it, many undercrewed and getting farmed... good times...
