nick.kelly Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 I kind of agree. It's a really enjoyable game in many ways throughout, until the Richmond battle, and I what really object to are the inaccuracies. There were some necessary assaults of fortified positions, but if it was too fortified, you'd siege it. And when Petersburg was taken, Richmond fell because it was unsustainable without Petersburg. And why do you need all of the forts? On my first attempt I manged to get my attacking force into Richmond without taking a single fort. Those star forts are like the Maginot line - go past them and take the real objective - not wreck your army on each one in turn. Apart from the forts the Union get no defensive benefit of the fieldwork fortifications, even if being attacked from the outside which seems very wrong. On second attempt managed to take every fort, wreck the reb army and lose fewer than half his casualties, but most of that was still unnecessary. Should have been able to win the last battle by simply occupying Richmond.
