Well, with open battles again, you dont NEED a speed-capped brawler any longer...  coming from someone who hunted in small groups, i seem to remember the best battles being 3v3, 3v4, 2v3, etc, with a diverse group.  Now its mostly solos who dare to take their ships outside the "home-defense" waters...  and those being speed-capped ones who can run if need be.  Whats the point of spending 1.5 mil on a Bovenwinds only to lose it immediately?

So what exactly was the problem with the way it used to be pre wipe? Why this need to fix shit that aint broke?

Maybe I was the only one but pre wipe it seemed that fast ships where fast and ships that should be slower where slower and you could tweak and customize them with wood or mods.

Why was that so bad? Why the need to complicate and convolute everything?

What am i missing that made this and other seeming unnecessary changes happen.

As I discussed with Pagan Pete last night, the historical top-speed (or something close) should be the speed-cap with bonuses, and they should work DOWN from there...  Instead they work UP from there and its created a borked-up open world...  Hell, even in early summer of last year, ships made sense and had individual uses....  Now, why sail a Frigate when the Bellona matches its sailing profile?

Just remove the speed cap... Wood types stuff stays basically as is..  THEN....

Treat Upgrades and Skills as they are 2 Separate things..   THEN

Best Skill or Upgrade in each set gets current Full Value..

2nd one gets 50% of the bonus

3rd 25% of the Bonus

4th (is there even a 4th Speed Skill? if so 12.5%

Same thing for ALL Stacking Skills/Upgrades bonuses.

Then to make it really more like life,(Life Isn't Fair deal with it), the Negatives stack FULLY..

Metas will be a thing of the past and we might even see ships that resemble historical ones...
