As far as it being like PoTBS...  To say there is no similarity is probably an over statement.  There are similarities in the control scheme.  There aren't, however, MMO like skills and such.  It's like if someone cranked up a "Realism" slider on PoTBS and cranked down the "MMO" slider.  It's not PoTBS-like, but it's probably PoTBS adjacent, given similar subject matter, and again, control scheme.

And that sounds perfect to me.  POTBS had a bit too much magic and fantasy, but the pure ship combat and mechanics were great.  If NA takes that and builds upon it, I will be hooked.  The open world pvp, economy, and pve in potbs were good as well -- the biggest problem I think was forcing pvp on those who didn't want it and the severe consequences for loss, plus the vitrol that slowly built up over winning/lossing.  Ideally NA will have similar levels of trying to play hard, but less severe fallout for the losers.  But to be perfectly honest, I still am not sure why PotBS burned out so quickly.  I thought it was a better game than its sales reflected.

In any event, WOWS beta came out today.  I may give that a look first, and check back here next week.

You almost forget the game is in alpha and it truly looks amazing.  The battles are great.  One of the best $40 I've spent in a very long time.  Good job, keep up the good work!

Same thoughts, the $40 is well spent, and you get the royal yacht, which is a very nice vessel to sail.  I spent $90 on AC5.  I played it for a week.  I spent $40 on naval action, and have been playing it everyday for weeks.

If you liked Potbs or Pirates Carribean Tales or Sid Meier's Pirates you will like this game.

The harsh penalties for losses coupled with the grind burnt me out on that game, it became a second job.  Based on what you wrote, yeah, you'll be hooked good :P

Hey I remember Garbad.  We were set to face off in the finals of an early tourney fls threw on potbs, and then I got called out on an emergency right after the fight started.  Good times.  Come to naval action, you will love it.

Call out when you're ready for pvp, I'll be happy to take a lynx/cutter along to for some light pvp.  Alternatively, you can join with the bigger ships and do some damage on the sly  ;)

I'm going to be gunshy about anything from wargaming after WoT.  They don't listen to the NA community, at all, and even when they make changes the timeframe is measured in months or years.  That said, I'll be interested to hear what you have to say about Naval Action now that you've taken the plunge.  Hopefully you'll get your key this week.
