JeanJacques de Montpellier Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) The current system of combat marks and mission-wages pays for fighting fleets or AI in general. Easy money, combat marks, and possible rare upgrades dropped. In a few months everyone will have all the upgrades again; and they will have lost so much time fighting unnecessary and boring battles against AI. A nonsense. This system is broken, we see some aspects: missions take out people away from OW for do money just do missions pvp is not encouraged trading is not encouraged boring everyone want drop upgrades from AIs combat marks are the "value" for all, upgrades/books etc. The pvp server should be, by name itself, "players VS players"; so why should people waste time playing against AI? ATM there is no sense / reason to do PvP. Edited June 24, 2017 by JeanJacques de Montpellier 10

Ok you can tell me "but you can capture ships from other player"...problem...all player when understand that defeat is imminent, wait the first fire on cannon and leave the ships in fireshock and sink....i think this is unrealistic 300-800 men died without do nothing against a little flame. Fireship in history was a strategy but this ships had a limited crew. 4
Red Jack Walker Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Absolutely +1 about what was said in the posts above. Too much Pve farming/grinding...Pvp should be definitely more "attractive". I really hope system will be reworked as soon as possible. 2
victor Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 OS PVP has now basically one problem: with one dura and crafted ships costing a crapton of gold in resources and labor hours, no player will start a combat if he is not sure either to win or to be able to escape. OS PVP has therefore become the heaven of failfitted ships and of ganking groups (with a failfitted tackler and its backup coming along him). There is little room for actual combat, and the combat reduces most if the time to a "shoot at sails + repair" long and boring chase session. The problem shall be addressed from both sides: for sure making PVP rewards more appealing is good, but it should be followed by making crafted ship (and cannons) less expensive, which means that the cost for harvesting basic resources (oak, fir, hemp and - most of all - iron) should get a consistent undercut. 1

Also fireships had no cannon armament on board because that was just too expensive. Fireship suicide turns something that should be negative into something positive. As it is, fire is almost completely harmless (it sometimes causes some sail damage now?). It's extremely unrealistic in the way it is done now. 3
