No Rewards for Surrendered Ships?

I tagged a player in a trade brig, he surrendered instantly, I sailed up to him, looted his fish, clicked "sink ship", and left battle after seeing "Kill x1". Once I returned to OW, i got a "No Rewards" screen. I wasn't expecting a big reward, but figured I would get a bit of cash/xp/marks for sinking the ship. Is this a bug or intentional?

I think it is a bug currently... yay!

Apart from saving your crew, I think surrendering any ship should have negatives, restriction to trade mission access etc.

Hopefully a hotfix will sort this bug out!
