The new Marks-System (10.3) is looking good to me. But (especially in Nations with more players) the conquest-marks are not easy to get or no way to get. 

If there are more Portbattles, there are more chances to take part of it and taking some marks.

What about to kill the regions or split it into more regions as it is atm?

Edit:  If there are too much marks on the marked, then the prices can be adjusted.

We did the whole port conquest stuff without regions and yes we had more port battles, but people did argue we had too many of them. I wont even add the problem with defending multiple ports in the same time , becouse that was a major flaw of no regions system and it filled rvr with even more undefended(or not well defended) port battles. As a nail to the cofin i guess this would mean reworking hostilities rising bcs they do work based on regions and otherwise it would be very weird.

I would say give us a raid system that helps for agro and you will see more port battles for sure.  Well more fights in the OW and such.  Some regions are a bit to big and I think they could prob had split the Bahamas up to make one extra region in that area if not two, but for the most part they are about the right size.  The problem is more folks that just want to camp on there marks and not risk lost or gain.  Loved that old Land Grant concept the devs mention a few months back cause it means you get the rewards of that region over others for doing the fighting.

it could stay at the current port attack limits but I would still split the regions to...

  1. have more opportunities for marks and a better distribution for the nations.
  2. slow down the march of nations. Currently with the loss of a single port 8 ports can fall in some regions. This means that the travel time of 30-45mins is going down in a single battle. Especially those that don't log in daily suddenly find themselves under threat or 2 regions (aka 1 hour sail) behind the rest of the nation.

I will suggest again also giving marks to everyone that provided hostility or counter hostility to the region at a specific level (500 pts ect) if your side wins.. Say at 1 per 3 days it is held plus the 1 for the overall conquest or defence

As tex said, raiding solves this issue.

Being able to raid (ransake) or ocupply a port for eg 48hrs. Would enable nations to use springboards to conquest.

If raiding gives the ability to ocupply a port on the successful raid, it would give access to missions etc.

Giving both attacker and defender a focal point and hopefully enabling more port battles.

I still feel that a raid should cost 750 marks, meaning it's a long term goal for an organised group of players
