Abram Svensson Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 I dont know if something like this was already mentioned, but i got this idea on work tonight. Remove Conquest marks and PVP marks and replace them with high amounts of Gold. RVR Instead of Conquest marks for every landowner who took part in the last Portbattle give him a high amount of Gold. Instead of 1 QM the landowners get 250k gold (normal region). Make Permits available for high amounts of Gold. (250k per Captain -> 250k * 25 players = 6,25 million per day for 1 port -> Victory Permit costs 6,25 million) Portbattles would get more attractive for everyone, even for players who werent interested in QM before. Nations without a lot of regions could still get 1st rates if they organise well. Big ships wouldnt be exclusive. Everyone could get them even without RVR but with great work. PVP We are on a PVP server, so make it more attractive. Remove PVP marks and give high rewards for sinking a ship. Example: if you sink an enemy Surprise the killer gets 80-100k as reward. Killing a small ship like a pickle, privateer, snow, etc. gives only a small amount (Pickle maybe 5k). This would save newbies a bit more, becuase it just isnt that rewarding. Make Books and Modules offered for PVP marks before available for Gold aswell. (Marines for 4-5th rate for 1,5 million) With this PVP players can afford the costs they have and still get the books. But the books arent exclusive for PVP players. PVE players just need to grind/farm more and can get those things aswell. PVE KEEP PVE MARKS Make Modules/Books/Permits in the Admirality available for PVE marks. PVE Players can offer their marks in the market, which PVP players can get to buy the Modules they need. Maybe even make Permits available for PVE marks (not only Traders) so there will be a market. Rewards for PVE needs to get adjusted then. Maybe give rewards for the ships players sink in the mission based on the PVP rewards. (25% from PVP rewards, so Surprise gives 20-25k if we take the numbers from above. With this system we can offer everyone way more opportunities. You can achieve everything, no matter if you are a good PVP player, a landowner in a portbattle or a mission grinder. Things just need to be balanced in the amount of gold. PVP and RVR should definetly be more rewarding than PVE, but PVE need the right to exist aswell. Every nation can build up fleets to defend or attack if they organise their money for the permits and even solo players can afford those ships with high afford. This system could be balanced easier in my opinion, because the Devs can only adjust the values in the game. If there is a high Inflation coming or a good amount of ships in the game, they can rise the permit costs or lower the rent from Portbattles. They can even adjust the costs of the resouces from buildings. All numbers are only examples to make it a bit more clear (hopefully) what i mean and can get modified of course. This are just some ideas that came in my head. Maybe we can discuss this and find some ideas or solutions for some things. 5
Prater Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 If they change things, pvp marks should stay and allow you to purchase titles, flags, pennants, or stuff along those lines. 8
John SIlver Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 I like this suggestion a lot and I also like Prater's addition to it. Never underestimate the lengths people will go through just to make their ship different than everybody else's and more aesthetically pleasing. If this game wants to stay more on the Simulation category and less on the WoW-style MMORPG then insane amounts of gold as opposed to PVP marks and such make complete sense. The game will be more of a sandbox with personal objectives instead of somebody looking at the marks they need to get a SOL and saying "Damn, I'll never get that."
Blackjack Morgan Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Just another pondering that could be added to these suggestions: Would it be a bad thing if PvP marks were rewarded on a weighted system that took the BR of the match into consideration? The higher the BR gap between the two sides the greater or smaller the PvP marks awarded. If you run around looking to do nothing more than roflstomp gank than your rewards will be smaller since you are risking very little....and conversely those who fight odds that are closer or disadvantaged are rewarded more? Seems like this could be a persuasive means to help curb some of the ganking people complain about without the introduction of a mechanic that outright prevents it? Secondly, would it be worth discussing that perhaps PvP marks could be used to actually obtain real ships? I think for some who like to purely focus on PvP the ability to earn new ships thru doing what they enjoy rather than needing to craft ships might be worth considering? I would consider it a alternative method to ship procurement for those who don't fancy themselves as ship builders....thoughts? 4

hiclipucli Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 this idea needs another wipe . what about already earnt CM>build L'Oceans ,Aggy's ship owners? Many SOL's build from "nothing" (mean fake PB-s reward CM)
Jones el Tuerto Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Conquest marks are killing the fun of this game, Port battles have no sense anymore this new fake pbs are all over the place. This is a game called Naval Action, we need more of that action killed with a lot of things in this new patch. The only good thing is the one life of the ships the rest doesn't work a lot of people is asking for a change. Teleports to freetowns should be back to allow more pvp, Conquest marks should be deleted of the game allowing Port battles be something fun and not some fake thing to generate conquest marks (such is a lord patch doesn't work and you know it), tow back to capital should be back, tow request of ships should be back, easier to construct bigger ships without this non sense that is making impossible to have them, people don't want to lose their ships therefore they don't use them they just have them in port and take them to the closest mission they have close to the fort... Yeah this is a fact. Just make things right we are asking for it, it's not that hard, we cannot go from one side to the radically opposite in one patch, this can be the best ships game ever, don't waste it please.
