Captain Lust Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 (edited) Even tho i love many changes in the new patch like 1 dura ships and more smaller ships being used instead of SOLs everywhere i can't fail to notice much less pvp than before the wipe, even tho PvP was supposed to be encouraged with the new patch iirc. It is very obvious that the main reason for this is PvP not being rewarding enough compared to PvE ( risk vs reward ). Why is this the case on the PvP Server? Why do i have to farm NPC ships for days or weeks to find the upgrades for my ship to be competitive in PvP? I can not buy them from other players either... no matter how much i offer, they use it for themselves or their clans. So it is hard enough to build a good ship, let alone replace it when you lose it. Not talking about the cost of the ships and guns but the rare refits ( if you get them at all ). The first step in the right direction is simple. Make all upgrades and skillbooks available for PvP Marks. You added the admiralty store ones to loot for the PvE crowd so why not add the others to the store aswell then??? If you think they should be rare... just make them cost more PvP Marks?!? If you really care about everyone having access to ALL upgrades ( and with access i mean the possibility to get it WITHOUT PvE or RNG which is cancer ) and also people actually doing PvP on the PvP server, you should consider this. I would also suggest you make Free Towns buy all resources at very good prices and sell them low so real PvP players can build their ships there and fight while casuals can make some gold at least. No TPs to free towns gave meaning to conquest but really killed a big deal of potential OW PvP... Another thing is you don't get rewards for damage anymore... Just why? Imagine some noob getting ganked to **** by a bunch of sealclubbers ( who can blame them with the amount of PvP to be had now ) Not only does he lose his ship and guns... no he also doesnt get a wet fart for the damage he dealt while being obliterated. "The Winner takes it all" is the wrong mentality for a video game that people play to have fun... Another scenario... 2 players of the same faction but not the same clan vs another player in a bigger ship. They both fight him and its somewhat a fair engagement. They win against the stronger ship in the end and one of them caps it... the other players gets NOTHING.... It's almost as if you want everyone to do PvE... Nothing wrong with that but if this is the direction the game is taking i might aswell wait for NA Legends... I'll add some quote from a negative steam review ( not mine i love the game too much ) that i translated from german. This is very much what i am thinking when i see the amount of PvE needed to get a good ship for PvP going in the latest version of the game. "...the game is supposed to be fun and not the purpose in life for a bunch of unemployed people..." Edited June 17, 2017 by Captain Lust 5
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 There's more pvp battles than before according to devs. For a PvP battle to happen, at all levels, it only needs 2 players. One might be willing and the other unwilling. In the end the machine that rules it all doesn't care. It is a win today, lose tommorrow, or try to win and maybe have to run away. And 100% supportive of the non magical / rng drop jack. Especially given most are under pve marks, something many players do not do in the pvp servers. Still hoping for a more in depth ship crafting system even if it extends the timeframe needed. 1

I would like to see a crafting system like POTBS had before they rebuilt it, so much depth and supply and demand on just about any item, that system worked and wasn't overly hard to use, this system needs some real good TLC and hard work put into making it much better then what we have. As for the PvP the Devs may say that its more but i don't see how more people will want to fight when they have to grind twice as much as before and only have 1 dura to work with, far more risk for all those that didn't PvP before to even want to risk going out to lose their hard earnt stuff, seems like more steps backwards rather then moving this game forward to bigger and better things, i seeing more and more veterans and friends pulling the pin on this game saying what a waste of time going through all this crap again and again with no real positive steps forward, i've been here since 2014 and since sea trials and watching the game slowly move around it hasn't really changed much at all, its a good ship combat game with a whole lot of crap that hardly works around it, it honestly feels like it has hardly has changed at all even though you could say land in battles/ PB's etc, the core game isn't any different, the rest of the open world doesn't really bond together and have any meaning, the game is that slow and boring that people don't want to waste hours playing and or will find anyway to cheat the systems to make things quicker for them while others just give up and move on, sadly the overall population is showing us that with the numbers coming online to play terrible and all the negative steam reviews wont do any favors to help bring new players to the game, this game has alot of issues that it needs to address and start making actual meaningful steps forward if it ever hopes to drag itself outta this mess that its got itself into.
I Shot Got Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) I have an issue with this. Unless some balance is reached in regards to risk and reward then those who know they have no chance of winning an engagement simply will not engage. At this stage unless you win you get nothing. Doesn't matter how much damage you inflict on how many opponents, you loose you get nothing. This needs to be redressed if the devs want more people involved in PvP then they need to encourage it not make everyone have to grind in PvE and Trade to get a replacement ship. Then of course you have the issue of the 68% sail Surprise catching a 94% sail Surprise - me thinks an issue exists that needs looking at. Shot Edited June 18, 2017 by I Shot Got 1
