Rather tweak the existing mechanic than introduce that shitty back to port teleport again. it SUCKED heavy

Yeah and getting tagged over and over for 5400 hours straight and being put right back where the chase started on OW sucks pretty heavy too.

I don't understand why this games development always goes from one extreme to the other.  Demasting is easy....now it's impossible.  I mean historically masts would not survive heavy cannon fire, so while I understand masts being too weak previously (for the sake of PVP)....you gotta at least make it so they do fall down occasionally.  Now we're back to the incredibly boring chain to 60% game.  Except by the time you get them to 60% they can repair....and then by the time you get them to 60% again...they can repair again...rinse repeat.

I N C R E M E N T A L changes please.

while pve player gonna make 10 times more money without any risks outside of his capital.... that is a good gameplay...

That is a very deep and profound discovery from last 12 Months of experiments. Its the way its going to be now.

pve players lasts as long as the grind lasts... the game should live thanks to pvp players bcs they make the end game. I dont want to fight the sheeps. They are bland and boring. I have a taste for a wolfs meat but it is getting harder to make bcs you are making it only more tedious.

So risk/reward will be:

PvP = very high risk/medium reward

PvE = very low risk/low reward.

Tis seems like good game play and it to all encourages pvp...

Basically NA gameplay right now in a nutshell.

You go and look for PvP and if you do find one well you know you are going to die anyway when the battle ends. So each time you go to look for PvP you gotta have an extra ship with cannons laying around or you aren't going back out.

Price for 1 PvP battle = 1 Certain Death (You have no chance of escaping).

Just great, sigh...

say no to safe ganking around capitals

I sympathise with the frustration of having players invading your waters, snatching your sheep and teleporting out. It is not optimal.

We've been down this road many times before; Do we encourage pro-active play or re-active play?

After observing OW for a long time many players have reached the conclusion that if you enable re-active play just a tidbit too much pvp grinds down to a crawl real fast. Booshkemping in tanks, sniping in FPS games or what have you...it all leads to static gameplay, it's not just a NA thing.

Maybe perfect balance is attainable? But I wouldn't bet on it.

I think it's better to have OW PvP run a little too hot with ragequits and wailing women than to slam massive carbon rods (revenge ganks, long timers, et al) into the core and kill off the initiative.

Everyone in mouthing "We want OW PvP", but I suspect there are quite a few hearts out there that don't really mean it.

What the heck does this have to do with the matter at hand?

The sheep is DEAD. I still caught them sailing AFK and sank them. Then I dumped all their cargo before the revenge gank arrived.

Dead sheep. Dead wolf. Happy revenge gankers. Let's call them cockroaches.

You seem to be not getting the point whats good for pvp is the abundance of targets not rewards.
If you pvp for rewards you are not the killer/hunter/wolf etc. You hunt because you cannot not hunt. Its in your blood.

Also - you get the ship/ cannons and refits installed on the enemy sheep ship

Not anywhere near means where?

constantly searched for pvp in front of ocean bright -> no problem

constantly search for pvp near ponce/la mona/vieques -> no problem

close to amalianborg etc. -> maybe problem, still got away everytime in a endymion with only 1 possible escapewind

In what ships are you sailing if that's the case? Sorry i don't understand it.

La Mona, Navasse, Danish home waters. So called home defence fleets everywhere not near their home lol. The logic is unreal...

Sure I've gotten away every time too but only because the revenge fleets made a bunch of mistakes.  As soon as they understand how to do it "properly" there is no chance of escape. Trust me on this one, I've seen it happens with a much lower player count :)

Surprise and trinc mostly.

If you keep the ship, sure you can get the cannons and the loot.  Which you can't do because with the abundance of revenge fleets everywhere you'll never make it home.  Or if you keep the ship you get no PVP marks which is the universal currency needed to keep making the replacement ships you lose to revenge fleets.  So essentially what you've done is turn PVP into something that used to be fun into something that is just another farming grind.

This is what I don't get.

You need to sail to enemy waters and take the risk of being ganked in the first place, if you do find a good fight there is a good chance they will have forts/towers on their side. So after all that work to get lucky enough to find enemy far enough away from forts that you can actually get a decent battle when it ends you are going to die and you have no say in the matter. How can you escape with these current mechanics? I honestly am so confused right now, I just do not understand at all. If we need to keep revenge fleets with these current mechanics to keep some players happy, they are obviously not on PvP servers to PvP.

The pvp model you are encouraging is toxic. It makes players gank other just to maximise pvp marks intake while minimising costs. It isnt a good pvp model tbh.

ps. oh im sry.. so someone made lvl 3 shipyard.. Oh guys it is ok. we are fine. Pvp is healthy and no tweeks are needed.

PvP is just too expensive, too risky, too unfair and too annoying and not beneficial at this point. How privateer is supposed to pay his bills if he earns nothing at all and risks his life each battle? You are encouraging everyone to PvE and trade more and more while these that try to remain real PvP players are struggling to survive each day.

we see data and see some skilled solo privateers building lvl 3 shipyards in free towns - all from stolen goods (from players and npc)

can we have an hp indicator for masts just like we have for armor and internal structure? it will help i think.

and with an indicator u can lower the thickness of masts again because now ppl will know when they are gonna fall and they can repair in time, thoughts?

Yes, but what I'm saying is if you actually get ganked by a fleet that isn't camping your battle location that is totally fine. They are a "home defense fleet" because they were actually there defending their waters. I agree with that.

But why is it that if we do manage to find a good fight we need to die to a revenge fleet that is impossible to escape?

I have level 3 shipyard as well, what does it change? I captured traders full of goods, but I rather prefer fight with someone who can actually shoot back... Have a nice gentlemen duel in OW or heavy and bloody combat. Real PvP by privateers is not chasing traders all day long for profit. Real PvP is a battle consistent of combat ships. What's the fun to punch someone who can't hit back?

We see more pvp fights than we saw with exit to friendly port from BRS. Take a friend

Look at the @elite92  above - just sank a pirate near Mortimer with a friend. No revenge fleets.

except it's not

How so? I've been in my speed rigged surprise and even though I escape a battle I spawn right back where the battle started and I have more enemy ships outside surrounding me. So when I run downwind or beam reach I'm only going to get tagged again until I surrender or get caught.
