It was not easy to start over with nothing. A few weeks later it's still not easy.  I get that.  And the economy, crafting, and map is still sorting itself out.  But based on my in game experience, I'm very happy.  And the people I sail with and speak with are nearly universally happy too.  The server pop numbers support that.  

My fear is that by reading just the forums, the devs might get the impression that the player base is really angry.  But I don't think that is true.  Or at least it is not true for me, or the players I sail with.  That's all.  I'm happy.  I think a lot of us are.  Thanks devs.  Keep up the good work.  Looking forward to playing/testing future improvements.

Some specific features you guys are happy about?

Like I am unhappy because...

1. Masts are very weak

2. Repair kits need a fix

3. Revenge gank needs a fix

4. Basic Cutters need a fix (Which is coming tho)

5. Conquest Marks are broken

6. etc...

Good things are worth it and the trouble-difficulties faced here are the challenge, I like that. It defines a good game from a note worthy one, this is a note-worthy game with fantastic sub-dynamics. I was wondering one thing at this point; will there be anymore wipes? I really hope not!

Masts are fine. The issue is guns are insanely accurate when shooting at masts. Repair kit issue is cost for me.

No way yo fix revenge gank unless you allow either a 3-4 minute post battle invis or an instant post battle teleport. Both of which would be bad

If cannons were less accurate, that would help but...

You have a ship X, you are ganked by 3*X.  Cannons are less accurate, but only thing they have to do is to shoot your masts and you eventually lose one.  This would be ok IF they would return hull side crew damage.  I do not recommend that, as that would make us lose crew pretty fast, would be boring gameplay.  So instead of that, I recommend that we scale masts to be so strong that it compensates that all protecting armor.

But it seems to be pretty damn freaking hard for people to understand that combat feels very unrealistic if you have this all shielding armor, and you do not take that on account in any other aspects of this game.

 

Repair kit main issue is that those bind as to ports, because of their weight.  So all fun sailing, that you can sail and fight and have fun without all the time worrying about some small details, that are those repair kits.  I am sure they will introduce us cannon ball numbers as well, and food and water, and sick personel that you have to take back to port every 5 minutes.  Just so that you cannot leave from that port.  Maybe they could just remove that crew management on sea, that would sure make us to sail back to port after every fight.  More difficult it is to sail the better.

Maybe we could do so that if you do not have lvl50 crafting you cannot do repairs on sea.  And less trade you have done, less negotiation skills you have to keep your crew high in moral.

 

Revenge gank needs a fix.  Devs stated that it does not as now everything is meant to be hard.  This took lot of their time without a solution, this is one big issue that definitely still needs a fix.  I still would just spawn us back to closest area that does not have enemy ships.

Even though teleports after battle and invis are both " gamey " and im sure will be exploited there will have to be something done and soon or this game will be back down to 40 players very soon.  Nothing has fundamentally changed since the wipe, yes its much more grindy and will take a little longer to get to the end game but soon enough the map will look like it did pre wipe and revenge ganks will be the same again. This led to a 40 player server before, why would it be different now.

I think naval action is great, sure it has its issues just like any other game out there in development. for me personally the good points on this game outweigh the bad. The age of sail is one of my favorite periods in history and before i started playing this game i longed for something that could capture the romance of sailing ships like this game does. I think that the open world sailing and exploring aspect of it can be a pain sometimes if you dont have much time to play, but the thing that really matters, the ship vs ship combat is amazing in my mind. Its so immersive and the developers nailed the atmosphere. Im not too sure about some of the grinds involved in the game though so i am really looking foward to see what happens with naval action legends.

This game is great. I think the reason behind the negative comments (including my own) is that we know the potential this game has and we want to see it be the best game it can be. This is why people freak out when the devs screw something up. If we didn't like the game, we wouldn't take the time to voice our complaints.

This game scratches the itch that Eve use too. Except now when I go roaming with friends for a few hours I don't end up unsatisfied with a shitty gank or when we do eventually find a battle it is immensely satisfying in Naval Action. Eve's combat was just so boring.

If you eliminated all the negative reviews from people who have over 500 hours then the game would be mostly positive in steam reviews. These people loved this game, they had there fun, they got a little bored of the existing content and decided to throw a fit about it. Or a change occurred they didn't quite like cause they were satisfied with the build they had.

Those people are destroying something they love instead of supporting it so it can become better. Idiots.

This game would be phenomenally improved with..double, or triple the player numbers. No change needed to the game itself, just more people around, the OW needs a bigger population to make this game better. All this would require is a positive advertising campaign. If you haven't left a good steam review, please do.

I love this game too. I am so salty with my words because they are born of passion. I know the devs love the game too, or they would have bailed on us bunch of whiny babies long ago.

The game went from over 300 a night to 149 right now in a month and a half.  I look at my clan's list and it is one Rear Admiral after another who have not logged in since mid July.  It is screwed and not going to recover without major Meta changes.  It makes me sad, I love the game, but it is broke and not fun anymore.  Once again a huge Pirate fleet is parked outside Charleston and the question is... why?  Not enough online to matter anymore.
