Hi I pre-ordered NA, on the 28th of Novemeber, and I'm eager to get started.

The thing is I am unsure about when I will get my key. Ive read 2 threads saying two different things.

The first thread states that it would be in the near future, while the other says its proberly going to be this weekend.

 

I am hoping to get some clarification on the subject.

Keys are sent and distributed every friday. If you preordered before yesterday you should already have it...if you ordered afterwards then it's waiting time until next friday

Greetings sailors,

Having received my key I looked at the thread/sticky about activating the game, should be straightforward....

Except I cant find NA on Steam, Gettysburg is there but not Naval Action,

Naval Action is not bundled up with Gettysburg by any chance? I wonder if any kind captain could steer me in the right direction with an idiots guide to acquisition and activation

Go to your steam library. Bottom left corner, "+ ADD A GAME", press it, then press "Activate a Product on Steam", then click Next, Agree, copy & paste your key in the box

Thanks very much for that, sorted and dloading now. The reason was I have changed PC and needed to reinstall Steam, I could access my page on steam but couldn't find Library or any such like which is where the confusion arose,

Alright so I have been looking at this game for a little while now and just decided to preorder it. Now I am very confused what has happened.... from my understanding they are going to ship me and key in the mail for me to download the game? Is that right? I saw a post by the game devs that said if you ordered after November 21st you would not get the game for some time but when I ordered it said they send out the keys every week or so. Which one is right? Also once I get the key where am I supposed to download the game? There doesn't seem to be anywhere to download it on their website. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... thanks

Correct.

Every friday steam keys are sent via email
This will enable you to download and play the testing game atm.

 

You then put the key in steam (add game in steam function, steam will accept the key and add game to your library) and download it. Steam will keep you up to date hence forth.

Hi Guys I am wanting to buy (pre-order) the game this afternoon, now I know that I should be given a Steam key on Friday if I do when do buy it.

 

My question is will I be able to take part in the trials or do they get released for newer purchasers at set dates?

 

I also have one other question, the boarding is bland, will this be reworked (I realize it's Alpha so I am not worried, however more ships were crippled and captured then sunk and I want boarding to be more of a strat (eg: you can give your crew weapons before the game that give offense and defence bonuses, some sort of boarding animation even if it is a preset mechanic... e.g. if ship x boards ship y it looks like Z). 

 

Other then that it looks great, sailing skill - check, gun skill - check, ammo skill -check, crew skill -check, variety -check, price - very decent for what has been promised (I can spend $100 in a year on WT or WoT, I really love how it is a once off payment).

I understand that the boarding is just a place holder at the moment.

 

I would say buy as soon as possible as keys go out for new pre-orders every friday.

 

Be aware also that although it is a once off payment there will be special ships and vessels that will be paid for with real money. 

Don't know exactly how that looks.

Cool, I'm sold already. I just didn't like the rock paper gun boarding animation but it isn't really a game breaker as such (I would have preferred a formula based result as a place holder with the defender having a slight bonus).

 

Hope they do something like this:

 

You arm your crew at the start of the battle with grenades, muskets, rifles, pistol and axe, swords, spears and each of these give specific bonuses.

 

The battle starts with the attacker dropping onto the other ship, if he is repelled then the defender can disengage or counter the attacker.

 

Getting onto the deck of the other ship decreases the damage done by both sides deck clearing gunners (rifles and muskets), after the initial boarding both offensive and defensive gunners can also be told to board etc. etc.

I can just imagine me during the holidays, cursing to myself while ramming a 1st rater with a light frigate while firing chain shot at his hull... and drinking Red Heart... .- skill!

Special vessels are fine, if they don't overmatch the same class of game earned ship.

I can tell you are really excited lol... giddy like me.

My main concern is that the devs don't dumb things down and make it disney pirates arcade. They seem to have intentions in the other direction though thank goodness.

All us legit navy captains may actually be able to conduct a war and the affairs of our nations instead of wild goose chases and convoy escort constantly for the pirate war that should be in the 1500s

If they dumb it down I will find the dev's and burn them as heretics, games are becoming very Dumbed down and twitch shooting style these days, most likely because a 12 year old can't play a game that requires lots of skill.

 

I like the idea of player factions, however we don't need Eve Online Goon Swarm to spoil smaller group sizes, a clan should have a cargo and gun limit so if you want a mega clan you need to have two or more smaller one's.
