I know the snow has a fair amount of guns but how are the low hitpoints justified? Even build from Sabicu wood it just melts like butter vs other 6th rates... 1900 side structure while the others have 2200 - 2500 and its sail hp are abysmal too. Is this really justified by the few more guns and good sailing profile?

It is historically a flimsy ship, it wasnt a heavy vessel in any way shape or form.  22guns on a 6th rate is unheard of to start with, then when you factor in they are on 2 decks, AND it has bow and stern chasers, it is a heavy beast.

More like a glassy glass cannon than a heavy beast... :P

Just look at the thing. It is tiny.  I still don't understand how they got so many guns on it, and I doubt it could have carried so many guns anywhere else but a lake.

Yes, it was build to sail on a lake exclusively. Doesnt change the fact that it seems weak compared to rattlesnake or mercury.

It is weak compared to the Mercury, which is almost a full generation later of a design.

Seeing as the Snow Ontario sailed and sunk during the US Revolutionary war in 1780.

And the Mercury was entered into service in the 1820s.

It is like comparing the Ingramanland to the Constitution.

And the Snow is actually a Sloop of War design and they were actually pretty common during this time on the ocean.

The Snow is in the class of the Brig (Fair American) not the Navy Brig or the Merc.

If the snow is a weaker ship and its widely accepted, then why does it have the same BR as rattlesnake?
