@admin Funny how you find gold farming ok just because you look at people that simply abuse idiotic mechanic of trading exotic goods and know how to milk it fast and properly.
I strongly suggest you to build economy arround proper goods and proper production of it. Then you can check and see how people are trading goods arround and how much money they got from it.

I know i can hunt npc traders arround and pray for good loot. Friend made ~200k from one trader yesterday as he got proper goods. I`ve got fir logs and rig parts. Mmmm sweety.

2 days :) roughly the same game period, c'mon read again :)

Playing France.

It all comes down to managing "insurance" and not spending all at once.

The PvP is only a choice but surely pays off more than hunting NPCs, that's all.

You didn't say two days, but still that is only 5 hours of game play.  Maybe if they where hard core I can believe it, but you did not say two days.  I guessed it was over two days.  Though again these are not new players they are players that have played the game for a good long time I take it?  So they know the in's and out's.

So is France fighting in one over in there home Capital regions?  I mean other than the guys that been hanging around La Tort?  So has any french of there been loosing traders over the last two days?  Pirates been loosing a lot cause of there location, but we can call that hard mode so let it slide.

Yes have insurance, but my point is that some players won't have that option and when they loose there only trader ship or ship than have no reall easy means to make that money back they will just give up and leave the game.

Question to traders, do quantities of national goods ( used for trade lane profits ) are enough for a LOT of traders or are simply in short supply so there might be a rush for them ?

Texas, you did reply before my edit, sorry for the mistake I provoked. To be honest I do not care what you make believe. We know what we do and how we did it. We been doing it since forever. In any case putting all eggs in the same basket is pure madness, you know, like losing a Surprise to schooners and then crying everything is expensive because the player went poker style all-in :)

Praying is the key to succes :D

Lets be honest we nailed 2 trader brigs worth of 133300 gold coins. Doing the danish - swedish trade run.

I only lost like 20K when I lost my brig, but I wasn't on like my 100 run as I'm sure some folks might of been on.  I'm trying to play more causal until I get that "INSURANCE" saved up and a nice stocked warehouse of goods and being able to afford my cannons and support my fleet.

Are you actually playing this game or just pvp. or you would know there are next to no trade goods anywhere, very little player economy and just a trade in exotic commodities as they are the only way to make trade money to pay for the things we need for pvp.

I see they run out fast in main spots, wheat I think needs to be done is they needed to be spread out a little more.  I could hardly find any pirate or caridbean goods in the Bahamas and all the Free ports in that area want those goods.  Main thing I would love is return of the scroll over a port on the map and it tells you what it consumes/produces.  We had this back before the regions resets so it's not nothing new.  It would save time of having to check every freaking port and it's mother to find out what will cunsume what goods.  yes You can check the trader tools, but that is per product not per port.  I want to know what one port consumes.  Do it like we had it before where it only will show you if you have visited that port and updates every time you visit it again (in case it changes) but the info is still there.

Yeah, last visit info :) Would be nice to see it back at the very least with the UI update.

Red duke so you don't actually have to play the game as it is written, that explains a lot, you actually need to ask basic questions about trade and how this game really works, oh I forget you just like pvp,

Yes, rather raid the traders than do the trader runs myself :), meaning deny the enemy nation of its wealth while getting myself needed prize money while having the challenge of not being a NPC.

But hey if you need an escort doing your trade runs I am the first to answer if I'm nearby.

The problem is that is assumeing there is an established system in place.  There isn't right now so many playres are to broke to higher an escort.  Every one is pretty much for themselves with the small trade goods to make money with cause no one has money to do buy contracts yet.  Than you loose a ship, two or more and it hits you hard cause you have no gotten a bank or insurance as you put it.  That is in a more established world. I use to all ways keep over 2 mill on all my chars a back up safety.  Than the fine woods came out and it turned into more 10-20 millinon each char.  Right now once I do econ most my money is gone.  I haven't been doing a lot of trade runs, but I been doing some missions and a mix of trade runs.  Wait until they actually try to produce off those buidings?  I think the cost is a bit high as that is what is sucking up most my money along with the cost of cannons.  The cannos wouldn't been a big hit if we got a little seeded money to start with.

No man staff need to get out there and see how it works or doesn't then you might understand that the stupid things you do economically is the real issue holding this game back. not damage models, not learning trees but the NA world economy, no money not pvp except of course for those with inside knowledge how ever acquired.

Full complement of guns for a Lynx is 19k, something like that. Two missions ( or two NPC raids ) of Midshipman level buy you the Lynx and the cannons.

One single PVP trader capture does pay for a entire squadron of those.

Choices, planning, social, getting out there. There's no inside knowledge but to be fair many strategies from other games do apply in NA cash management.

Red duke the amount of money for a lynx and guns  is irrelevant, those of us who where on the test server need a 5 Milion injection to get us to use vic's . you are so stuck in your pvp world, you forget it was taking us most of our crafting resources to make hull repairs to keep fighting on the test server. that is with a million dollar redeemable and the same economy as this poor excuse for one.

Gotcha. Third day post patch. Maybe time to start planning the war and think about logistics. Raiders can help a lot by denying those same logistics to the enemy ( and give shares to shipbuilders if the resources are needed ) but hey, what do I know. There's something interesting in this new system that we will only see after two weeks. While cash is important it doesn't really replace the need for vital national cooperation to get combat capability going.

Man if the an average player like Sir Texas Sir, has issues with cash then perhaps there is a real issue. National cooperation will be hard to achieve. we are too busy trying to stay afloat. perhaps you have never studied history, "the sinews of war is gold and more gold" , think that was Caesar of the roman world and nothing has changed.

I tried to get back into the game last night but after playing it for over a year, I just lack the motivation to do it all again. Feels like we are back where we were a year ago but with less 1500 people online.

Did this ever get posted folks where asking about it in game and in clan TS.   Wanted to be able to point them to some link with the info. I only have a spread sheet we did for our clan with info and we don't know if it is actually right as some was guess work.

Yes. Exactly. Less gold for the enemy due to privateering, more gold for my nation due to robbing the enemy. Anything wrong ? Stealing NPCs is a choice not mandatory, at least in any of the PvP servers.

I suddenly remember seeing a screenshot of PvP EU yesterday where the Swedish nation assembled this massive trader fleet for common protection. ( thanks to Sveno )

Good example of players of a nation banding together, playing together for common goals. Sounds they are proving themselves the sinews of war using the mechanics in place.

I think I would have to ask that on earth were they trading three day just initial production from forest eta al , so perhaps the knew where the real money making commodities are located , your economy is stuffed  unless you understand that this game will fail very quickly because you cannot see the wood for the trees. you think national action will supersede the basics of economics, I really now understand the problem

Are the Devs just taking the piss out of us? Grid lines are back on the map but no Lat and Long and no ship position so how are we to know where we are or if we go off the edge of the map or to find a wreck in open ocean. If you think that this is historical then you have rocks in your head, this is a game and supposed to be enjoyable to play, that is why we play games not to be frustrated by brick walls that are put in front of us just for the enjoyment of the Devs. Keep it up and it is a good way to lose your player base. I pity the new players who will probably get disheartened very quickly and go and play others games that are enjoyable.

You got a Compass on the Map so it shoud not be a problem to find a Shipwreck.

If u left the habor press "M" click on show protractor in the left upper corner and u can set a Compass by left double click on the map and with right click u can set a target.

Only thing u dont know is when will you arrive that point.
