TXSailor Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 So, I've seen a LOT of Pirates in PvP2 complaining that Americans don't play nice, that the Pirates are the REAL victims... and then I get this lovely fleet after me and they wonder why I don't want to stay and fight? Just wanted to throw this out here. Whine and complain all you want, but I doubt anyone here would take these odds. 2
Powderhorn Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 If you pop over to the test bed, you'll find the OW AI fleets to be drastically reduced in strength and prevalence.
Elric Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 they are AI's - and you need to be aware of those when cruising in OW - especially when you are about to get tagged... 2
TXSailor Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 He grabbed us as we left port, so there was no chance to move. And then proceeded to follow us, only the following time with a fleet of Ingermanlands. Each time we escaped he would follow with a larger and larger fleet, all the while screaming that "US never fights! You just run away!"

Powderhorn Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Hard to look at a feast and then complain the mashed potatoes are a bit off.

Nikodemus Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 OP This stuff happens to everyone, part of the game. I logged into a 15 person french fleet (players) one day. They sank me as they should. 1

I just find it amusing that Global is full of Pirates crying about how they're the victims of US bullies, but the first encounter I have with a Pirate player is THAT fleet, and him calling me out for not wanting to fight that lol.

Ah got you. There are a few people like that from all nations. Though in a smaller nations defence it can be tough because while it happens to everyone chances are if your in a small nation it will happen to you more often and can get old. I started out as a Pirate on PvP2 and can tell you when we where 1 ported and had 30 to 40 US players to the North and 20 or so Brits to the south it was tough going.

Maybe you are looking for some PvP but cant find anyone else on the server because you are stuck in a master Alliance? Me and a few of the new guys I dragged in have been hunting NPC ships to engage. The largest we can muster is a Surprise each for the two of us, and Cerberus and smaller for the other three, and since there isn't much drive among players to provide a fair match, we focus mostly on NPCs lest this situation happen. 31 minutes ago, Hethwill said: One screenshot doesn't cut it Nothing more to show, lol. Surprise is fast, and I made good on that speed running like a little girl.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Awesome. We all have to put stuff out of our chests sometimes, guess the veiled content of the thread ( not the screenshot itself ) is one of them. Feeling better now sir ?

Eh, I've only served to confirm that Pirates only play with at least 3x the BR of their enemies. 1
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Ah ! I won't deny you but some of the streams i've watched from PvP2 were actually... not...exactly that scenario being the black flag folk fighting against the odds.

Don't get me wrong, I'm just as cranky at the US guys who don't see an issue setting up at La Tortue and ganking Pirate n00bs. I don't see the fun in seal clubbing... not at all. I guess I just expect far too much in the vein of honor. For me and mine, I have a standing rule that if a player's BR is less than ours, we will NOT attack. Maybe I'm silly for that, but to me it means something.

If you want an even fight go into small battles with your friends. Can work on your PvP and also if its just you you can have a tap out rule where you stop firing on a ship close to sinking
Raekur Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Well not that long ago I was sailing out of La Tortue in a constitution and was jumped by a pirate in a Santisma who in turn called for help from another pirate to cut me off. He said about the same thing to me about not wanting to fight even though he had a pirate AI fleet there with him while I was trying to sail out of the area. So the BR was 250 on my side vs 1600 on his AND then another pirate joined in adding another 140. So I agree with you in laughing every time I hear a pirate whining like a 2 year old about fair fights. So far to date I have met only ONE pirate that fights fair, that was Koltes. Oh and by the way, I doubt you will see pirate noobs at La Tortue, most of the new ones will be near Kidds or Marsh harbour. Moderate to heavy pirates hang out near La Tortue to intercept british that got past La Nevasse.
TBD Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 PokeMe does not need a fleet to board you in 2.5 seconds. Take my word for it. And please spare the insults, plenty of proof of BLACK fighting against odds. In case you have not noticed server is dead an noone cares anymore. Raekur BR mechanics preclude your situation from being possible. La Tort is a newb zone. Heavy Pirates usually came out after newb got ganked, or GB player fleet shows up in channel. Newbs dont even know Kidds exists. Most of new Pirates use shallows newb zone or Mort as base, so you are seal clubbing a bit. If you want PVP you know where to find it ( La Navasse), or invite in global chat. I have not played for a few days but good to see nothing changed and no reason to come back.

As i am sure the mechanics prevent one British Heavy Rattlesnake attacking a Pirate Heavy Ratt and then THREE more Pirate's joined in (single pirates with no fleet). So I dont care what the Mechanics are SUPPOSED to do, I am saying what DID happen. And if you are calling La Tortue a newb zone, you must be from PVP1 because on PVP2 a newb would be stupid to sail around in those waters as that area was heavily contested all the time and patrolled by pirates and british heavy frigates all the time. I am fairly certain that Kidds is offered as a starting point so the claim that it is 'unknown' is impossible. Pirate newb area should be around Marsh Harbor not Jamacia.
Sir Texas Sir Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Looks like some one got tagged in the Valley of Death (La Torte area). There is a reason you need to watch out, even if he didn't mean to there are all ways tons of AI for who ever owns that region around. As for our complaint it's not with Big AI fleets as I think every one hates them including us, what we hate is Port Battles when you bring 35+ and screen against 20 guys. It's a big over kill and when US can bring just there own 25+ (they have the last few port battles) they don't need to be in an alliance with the second largest nation GB. Though this is going to get resolved hopefully when the next patch comes out. Two largest nations should not have had a port battle since Auguast of last year. Now as for your own words you said he keep leaving and following fleets. Wouldn't that gives you a hint that he's being careful to not be attacked by two suprses? While he's in a lower BR ship a Cerberus? While some might be able to beat those odds, but not many unless the two surprises where two idiots. I'm going to say your not so if your in the same boot you would pull the fleet with you to. Now show me a screen shot of like 15 pirates vs your 2 (and I'm not counting AI's pulled) and than we can talk about unfariness. Next time don't hunt in that area and be more aware of what is around you when your popping in and out of the port. It's not like he tagged the fleet and pulled you in, he tagged you and pulled ya'll in. You had to get close enough for a tagg so I'm going to bet you where going for a gank on him and got screwed out of it cause you didn't see the fleets around you.

We both left port. Before our sails had a chance to raise, HE had attacked us with the fleets there. As we attempted to leave the area after having escaped, he followed us to engage, again, with a numbers advantage.
