CatSwift Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 (edited) (See all of my paintings on Instagram) as you can imagine, I've gravitated towards naval paintings! i thought some here might like to see them, a meager distraction while waiting for the patch. Edited February 11, 2018 by CatSwift 34
TommyShelby Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Nicely done! Very impressive considering you only been at it for 3 months
Lancella Dutch de Wildt Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 This looks good! especially since you're doing this for only 3 months, keep it up and keep on sharing!
OlavDeng2 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I am impressed, definitely not bad for 3 months
Powderhorn Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 This is very, very nicely done. If I had three months of practice, I'd have a little stick figure sail boat. 2
CatSwift Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Thanks for all the kind words! Here's another I did yesterday 8
CatSwift Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 (edited) did this today in the style of this world of painting youtube video Edited May 1, 2017 by CatSwift 8
Werewolf Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 CatSwift, this is simply astounding work. The one with the ship at rest during sunset.... would you be interested in selling it?
CatSwift Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 No ships in these, but I thought folks might appreciate these none the less. I found Byron Pickering the other day, trying to learn what I can from him. The first is a derivative work off of his "Rock Study", the second in an original. 5

The Spud Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 I lack the skills and the patience to ever be able to accomplish this, well done.
CatSwift Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 Oh my, I had missed these two when I made my first post. These are about a month old. Also, for those interested I've been posting everything to reddit, and you can see the complete history there (50+ paintings) 6
Ser_Slack Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Nice - I've got the wife and kids watching Bob Ross episodes in the evening so it was fun to see this.

Minutemen_Chaplain Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I like the surf spray in the last one. Has very good sense of motion.
Ned Low Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) Overall your ability to paint nature is good, but ships look bad. I would suggest you to go to NA get in the frigate, then park it somewhere and try to replicate it in your paintings. Once you learn to produce high detailed ships in your paintings you will be able to make $ selling them. Do not be afraid to simply replicate old Naval paintings. The more ships you paint the better you will get. I would start with Anatomy of the ship and Perspective basics. Edited April 13, 2017 by Ned Low

I actually thought his was considerably better than mine....granted I have more of a traditionalist nature to my style... 9

CatSwift Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 almost filled up my attachments quota, so the end of sharing my paintings here is in sight 7
Anne Wildcat Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Love the paintings! Save them to Imgur or something & share the links.
Mirones Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 instead of ataching to your post us imigur. then use the "insert other media" button on above the "Submit Reply" one and select "from link" try replicate that one. step 1 draw the ship with pencil on the canvas not a coal one but one that has a more organe tint to it. step 2 ignore the ship focus on whater background sky and the shore. once the background and the raw ship is done you can start focusing on the ship. thats how most naval painters do it : painting starts at 8:20 here some offical loading screen art work from NA wich were sort of made in a similar way.
