Humble Troop Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 I got this Idea about a custom battle that I think would be something worth considering. I've got over 160 hours into this game and absolutely love it. Please keep up the good work. I'm not sure if the idea has already been brought forth. but here goes. 1) Take and make a map 4 or 5 times the size of 2nd bull run/chickamauga. or just expand a few of the current maps. Create a base/supply point for the North in one corner and the South in the opposite corner with a set supply depot of say 50K or 100K.(would have to make the supply wagons able to pick up supplies and drop them off to create new supply points) Make these points the main objectives. Win conditions would be to have control of both main points/maybe no more than 50% losses. Also make the battle last anywhere from 3-5 days with 1-4 corps. Army Strengths on both sides would have to be comparable/or not. Give people a challenge. Day one starts with only one corps with reinforcements arriving sporadically over the course of the battle. i.e. (1 corp for every day). Sure the first day might be chewed up trying to secure good ground but with a map this size it would leave flanks out in the air... unless you can find a river or mountain to anchor on. Instead of being able to use the edge of the map. Roads would become very important for getting troops across the map. Maybe create a march mode feature. So that your units stay on the roads while they are on the move. click say starting point and end point instead of trying to drag a line along the road your-self. 2) Toss out random objectives through out the map that give the player/players points/money/reinforcements/supply/weapons. i.e. (For Multiplayer) (supply would be for in game play which would go along with the supply wagons being able to pickup and drop-off. Cavalry would need a "Scout" feature or Guard" feature. Scout button would make the unit run out ahead or beside the army "looking" for the enemy but never engage. While the Guard button would allow you to have the cavalry patrol or run circles around your supply wagons to protect it. Maybe even give skirmisher units these abilities as well. With a map this size it could prove to be an issue. especially trying to move supplies back and forth from the base to where your army is located on the map. Maybe even give your units the ability to create or make fortifications. i.e. click and drag where you want them to start building. 3) From a Multi-player stand point. Using the campaign as a model make a few more maps like this one 4 to 5 times the size. Only these maps can be played in this fashion/setting. Call it what you will. Then start everybody out in charge of 1 division just like the campaign. Allowing them to rank up or down based upon their performance in these skirmishes/battles. Then in-between battles you give the player the ability to build your army just like in the campaign. Performance in battle plays a role in how much reinforcements/money you get. could even include the career point system for the general. Highest ranking would get control of One whole core while other low ranking players command say a division or two and would be given objectives by the main or highest ranking officer (to simulate chain of command) but are left to complete those orders on there own.(essentially the army commander would be just giving attack or defend orders to the various commanders(kinda like giving AI control to division commanders) Would probably have to open chat between the team players for this. or just make it like it is now. No chat just orders show up and you have to try and complete them/or not .......I think this would be amazing...... Please developers take this into consideration. I would love you even more.
