Ruthless4u Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I believe the final product of the game will ( sadly ) end up being a PVE only open world, with PVP events made several times a week at varying times to attempt to satisfy the PVP inclined players. The primary focus of the game will be forcibly shifted to trading and crafting, and port battles will be rare PVP clan only events that reward ships, banners, or other unique prizes. Ports will not change hands and A.I ships will be extremely passive and not engage players. Travel times will end up being faster, teleports will become less restricted, and you will be able to see your location on the map at all times. And, still no one will have a clue what pray does lol. 1
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Interesting guess. Not logical, but interesting. 2
Arvenski Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 @Topic: I'm not saying for sure that this is how it'll be, but the phrase "dead on arrival" comes to mind, doesn't it?

Jean Ribault Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 The game will be engaging and fun on release. As it is now. Naysayers are a dime a dozen. 4
Pada Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 They need to bring players back to the open world, it's dead right now. Last time I logged on I was about to sail out but instead exited because i was saying to myself, why wasting time searching for hours and not finding anything. You have to remember there are players who are not into RvR and play the game for privateering ow pvp. I really hope the devs have not forgotten this and gonna fix the open world at some point. 1

In PB you see more and more boarding ships, and those lead to fast and silly victories. The sides that boards most/fastest wins, as it is a lot faster than shooting/sinking them and hits the opponent with a double whammy: 1 ship gone from the cap-the-base game and points as well. Seems kinda excessive, right? 1

For example PVP events have already been instituted in the PVP server. 1
Daguse Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 (edited) Thing is,the game doesn't have the depth to support PvE in that matter. In addition, if the game had a variety of solid PvE game play, more players would be in the OW meaning more targets for PvP. I have said it several times, you need sheep (PvErs) to bring in the wolves (PvPers) and the sheep dogs (PvE/PvPers). But I don't see that happening, many players don't see the need of want PvE in their PvP world and the devs just don't have the experience buildings compelling PvE. Tell this is fixed, I fear the game will be in this limbo of "mediocrity" on both PvP and PvE. After all, think about similar game styles, Eve, Elite Dangerous, Pirates of the burning seas. While some did it better, they still had a large selection of PvE. Edited March 9, 2017 by Daguse 1

Couldn't have said it better myself. Content for the PvE crowd (and not just all in their own imaginations), would result in a target rich environment for the PvP bunch. Otherwise, OW is a complete waste of space as a crappy and unbalanced matchmaking system. 2
