Program buttons on mouse

Can mouse buttons be programed to replace keyboard functions?  I tried to program my Logitech mouse buttons using Logitech Gaming Software but was unable to do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does the Logitech software map a certain keyboard key to a mouse click ? If it does then a A on the mouse will be the same as an A on the keyboard

Thank you for your quick reply.  Right after I posted my message, I decided to re-install the Logitech software and left the forum to do so.  That solved my problem.  Next time I'll make sure to try every last thing before i ask for help.
