Allright. So.. I've got one INTERIM suggestion that just dawned on me and I doubt it'll make anyone happy and probably see me covered in pitch by my own and lit on fire by the others. But here goes.

The problem with nightflips is that the attacker decides the time of the attack and the problem with the old lord protector system was that it was blatantly abused by the "western" alliance who placed all timers in US timezones. What we need is a mechanic that takes the human nature out of the equation - human players will always strive to get an advantage no matter the cost.

I sincerely believe the best solution is splitting the servers with different timezones and then let playerbase stabilise over time - and I consider it to be the only solution that works post release.

However:

What if we locked PB timers for all nations? - US ports get locked to US timezones, british ports to Greenwich times etc.? - That way there's no lord protector to abuse the system and new players can join factions based upon the timezones for their defensive ports. This will only work as a midterm solution however as the need for a US server with more US friendly times will be there - i.e. what happens post release and a lot of US players join? - they'll only be able to join one faction and all other factions has defensive timers that are a pain for the US players. As I said it can only be a midterm solution and probably not one that makes anyone happy. The US will complain that they can only attack during the weekends and everyone else will complain that they can only kill US players during the night (and we all know the love of killing the no-skills)..

The danger is that this system can come to be viewed as "natural" or even worse "functioning" when/if the nightflip issue gets removed. It will however only last till the point where the game releases and the amount of players soars from all over the world. I don't believe a global server is ever going to work satisfyingly and should not be entertained as a fools dream of how the world could've been.

Well... That's my two-cent proposal and I'll prepare for my public hanging in CS and the oh so public flogging by the US players before the execution: Free fire!

Just like every other post about night flips etc... @admin a new thread should be made with the 2 opposing views and ideas for a compromise. We need to be honest with ourselves and acknowledge our ignorance on this issue and actually come together and form a compromise. All of these posts are just accusations and regurgitated ideas that have been circling for months.

The night flip issue will prevail even if you divide your map to timezones. On PVP2 US and GB have the largest populations and between them own 75% of the entire map. According to your idea thats 75% set to a specific timezones and others missing out and having even less opportunity to bring numbers to fight back, thus further denying smaller nation an ability to be competitive.

This issue live due to the small number of servers and small coverage of timezones.

The night flip issue will be eliminated naturally when game will be finished and released. Once we have Asia/Aussie/NZ, US, EU servers people will be playing from more a less same timezones, which means the night flips will be gone.

But @koltes, I just don't believe there will be enough players six months after release to support two servers, let alone more.  I may be jaded and pessimistic, but I estimate that it's one server or the game is back to this same old crap within a year, where PvP is nowhere to be found, by-the-numbers RvR is the only end-game content, and everyone who is masochistic and made it to max-rank only has that and moaning on the forums to keep themselves occupied.

If they do split up the servers I predict server mergers at the six-twelve month time frame to try to bump up populations, like they should have done here a long time ago.

Well you are thinking of the game in its current state.
I'm thinking that when its released hypothetically these issues will be sorted and the game will attract PVP crown again. This is what it means "released" in my books anyway :)

Oh, I think it will get its changes, and certainly a post-release bump in players. I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong in the long run.

Well if there will be no more players then regardless what @Bearwall offers about the nightflips issue its not gonna work because the game will be dead lol :)
Common man! Keep the chin up :)
