Fort suddenly becomes huge

So I saw this Player Trader vessel approaching a port, I did see the fort, but thought I'd give it a go anyway.
What happened:
I gave the Indiaman a few rakes, pushed it into the wind while in range of fort and boarded him. Since the fort did more damage on him, I didn't get the kill but an assist. Just after boarding, the fort somehow doubles or tripples its size, becoming a mega fort, I don't even know rofl. Is there some sort of transformers going on? I forgot to take a screenshot of the fort before the boarding, but I think you can see in this picture that the fort is not the size it's supposed to be..
What was happening there?

That's not a fort, that's a frickin' Citadel. What guns do they shoot from that? 128 pounders?

I guess the forts weren't too happy about my constant #NoForts spamming, lol

I saw this happen in a PB. I was bombing the fort in my mortar brig, when the scale seemed to change. I F-11'd it at the time. What it seemed like was that the fort reverted to it's OW state while still in the instance but an a larger size. Oddly enough I had trouble placing rounds on it even though it was much bigger.
