We don't need to listen to wolves to find out what sheep want.

We know 1 durability system is better - but it must work for all ships.
And if you like this - you - YOU PERSONALLY - must help to shut down all comments about too many first rates. Because its just a game and because if you want pvp you want ships to be affordable?

Before you do it you will accept 3 duras because its what it was before and worked.

You want to cut down on first rates?  DO A WIPE OF ALL RESOURCES AND SHIPS.  Right now a lot of players are sitting on millions or even billions gold.  Many of us have so many 1st rates and other ships we have to destroy them. Not to mention we capture just our clan several a week.  We break up the ones that aren't worth crap.   Right now the econ is flooded with bad system from the past so that many guys aren't worries about Regions to get there supplies or what not cause they have stacks and stacks of mats.  I have some clan mates that have so much stocked up they can pop out a 1st rate every day.

Speakign of which I tried the demaset missions since it was the Essex.  I used the gifted one which we have no clue what it's made of.  It was given 12 lb Carros?   WHAT THE HELL WHO WOULD PUT THOSE ON IT?

You can change the weapons you know. Who the hell does not check weapons before leaving to battle :)

Yeah and don't forget to check if you hired enough crew ^_^.

How do you get trade manifest (other then trading 10 PvE marks in for them). I just did 2 trade runs on the testbed and made around 7m gold (thanks to the use of fleet ships holds) but didn't get any trading rewards for that. Do you have to do the stupid trade missions for this marks?

we never said outlaw faction is guaranteed to be implemented.
we said we are considering splitting pirates in two factions. but thats just an idea.

Does it mean, that the idea of splitting the Pirates is gone or still in consideration? ;)

1 dura ships, you cannot really use upgrades.  You can but who wants to grind new upgrades all the time?  I seriously do not want any more crafting and trading to this game.  Focus to make war and make us able to find each other, focus to ACTION.

BUT

Most fun I have had in this game was when I was a n00b (am still, but when I was even bigger n00b)..  We were sailing in a group of friends, we were capturing bigger ships for us, so we would do better in the next battle, or could take bigger battles.

When I noticed, after some time, that crafted ships have durability, and I understood upgrades.  Game got pretty serious, and fun kinda vanished here.  Also all that fun that we have had, felt like..  Omg, and we were wasting our time doing that!  wtf!

It can be that the game would be better with 1 dura ships, if we could not lose our upgrades.  Upgrades would create a huge grind that I really do not want.

BUT

When our friend lost a ship that we had captured before, he got a bit bored.  It did eat their motivation.  So to be honest, I do not know if this would be our salvation.

ALSO

You should be able to play this game without trading & crafting, and be competitive.

AND

More experienced players will capture all ships from n00bs, and n00bs are only ones crafting ships after that.  Death Penalty easily goes to wrong address.

SO

It may not be that black and white.

The Big question remains. Why dont you go to battles more and get your ships destroyed? Too little rewards? To hard to find a battle? Too boring battles with less sinking and exploding ships, less adrenaline and too much boarding?  Why do players stockpile ships instead of go out there and fight?

You did well from 2015 to april 2016 then you went for your own direction,

Maybe a question of access to battles? The open battle duration was cut in April. Please make them longer. To go into battles with these warships is a good idea as you like with the cancel of one dura. Make ROE a place to actually meet enemies.

Thanks devs, I understand you want to make this game more accesible to new players which I think is great ( such as the free ships in PvE challenges etc) . And my feeling is this is all gearing up to 'more stuff to do' which is quite important. Nevertheless, I agree with most people here that in the case of port-battles its best to take a good look at the feedback from the community. The forts were fine more or less.. Its hard enough to line-sail huge ships in small circles irregardless of the wind.. and I believe this will favour defence even more. And I am a bit worried about 3 dura on first rates.. What's the point of econ when ships don't get destroyed?:) also new players don't have these ships out of the box so I don't see the reason behind this measure (nothing casual about sailing 1st rates). In any case, I applaud the usage of a test-bed server.

btw: totally into the idea of nerfing the thickness, but I have yet to see still how the new damage model works.Hopefully a better balance against the at the moment over-buffed boarding.

battle rewards will be valuable and no-one will want you farm them nonstop by sinking your friend or your alts

So I think I understand that this means that when you lose your ship there is some sort of indicator saying you won't give a reward if attacked. So unless somebody really hates you they won't bother. Great idea. But considering the distances involved and the time spent sailing to do almost anything (longer than an hour). Perhaps a little longer would be better.

You see if a person is sailing for 5 hours to deliver goods and gets attacked on the last leg. It will take him 5 hours to get to the same position again and by that time the same old people can gank him or her once again and get a reward.

VERY happy to hear attention is on keeping new players playing. I was shocked to hear how many new people are buying NA each month but population doesn't increase a lot if at all. Nothing else is more important when looking forward to release. What will it matter if 3000 people buy NA at release, if 2990 give up before 100 hrs?

BUT...     (thank you Cmdr RideZ - I like this format :))

I really don't see anything in this patch that tries to fix the 'quit before 100 hrs' problem. The ship provided for the PvE challenges helps a little, IF a noob sees and tries the challenges. Even if they do, they'll see how they don't stand a prayer of getting prizes and wouldn't try it again. Don't get me wrong - supplying the challenge ships is a good idea.

SO...

What does NA desperately need? Definitely a series of tutorial missions. The noob needs to be led through learning the basics in a completely separate playing space where they can practice maneuvering and shooting in a closed setting. Any $40 game better have a tutorial or I will think the developers were just too lazy to make one. That's the cold, hard truth (IMO).

AND...

A noob zone needs to be created that is totally cut off from the higher ranks. The Bahama zone is too much in the middle of the action. I guess the Pacific region *is* the answer. Just put some ports over there without nationalities or ranks so noobs can pew pew at each other in a FFA zone. Isla Sorocco and Isla Isabella can be used as island ports along with some coastal ports. No fortifications. When they reach an 'noob' XP level, they graduate to the 'big leagues', choose a nation and get plopped in the national capital as a newly enlisted lowest rank officer.

You can trade in PVE marks for trading manifests. PVE marks can be gained through missions or just sinking AI on OW.

IMO the only wayto keep players in the game ...is make the early rank up system either quicker or more fun ,,, this game only really becomes fun when you can crew a ship thats competitive ,,,sailing in cutters brigs and snows trying to rank up... getting ganked by connies and trincs  isnt fun ... and its at thiis stage people quit after 10 hrs

giving a 1st RATE 3 duras isn't going to Keep anyone in game ...just going to force people out ....why would i sail anything else if i cant lose it..

What made me quit the game was the lack of larger battles. I really think they are cool. But somehow they are too rare and hard to get. I like to sail out in OW, find some swords and get into the fray. "Battle is closed". Hmmm. Not fun.

Also the ability of large clans to steer and control players and nations. That is really annoying.

I'm not talking about MOBA but some easier access to action would be nice.

It sounds like the pending Raid mechanic might be right up your alley?

Did we have special attention to new players when the game was well populated?!

All we need to keep people playing is an overall good game, no matter how slow or hard it is. Nothing else should be more important.

People can sell their marks. You can buy marks from them.

Thats the issue. People gets very bored of doing always the same to get new ranks.

But the problem is that people farming missions is what players think is the best to rank up. Not PvP, not sailing, not Port Battles, but PvE... Remove that and you will remove the stupid grind for ranks. People grind to Rear Admiral in missions and don't even know how to fight PvP.

No No - a fraking thousand times NO!

If they grind at PvE missions... who are we to tell them that's the wrong way to play? Are they damaging your gaming experience... aside from them being around for you to sink them... because sink them you will.

And if they get tired of the PvE grind and leave, when the PvP option was there to try... that means they'd rather quit than risk being humiliated repeatedly in OW combat. Nothing can be done about that. Nothing. Taking away the PvE will just make them leave faster.

If you want to increase the rarity of line ships, remove players ability to craft them. Now that admirality is coming to the testbed, make lineships (not the blueprints) only attainable through admirality.

Its not the rarity, its the shipbuilding effort that goes into them what makes them special. Single dura should remain to keep that.
