Jean Pual Vilvenue Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) Firstly I'd like to start off and say W-T-F... After dreaming for this PB finally, a 25v25 PB with screening across all nations on the server (Except Spain) and insane rising in PvP pop numbers called for an intense and imminent battle about to take place. This being my 2nd PB, inexperienced and not fully aware of the true PB mechanic, the timer read 1hr and 5 minutes... Sailing to the actual battle zones took about 20 minutes, so that leaves 20 MINUTES OF PvP !?!?!?!? Before the points counter reached 1000... This is pathetic, I was barely damaged, barely dealt damage myself and not a single ship sank. Devs what on earth is going on here ? The objective should be the ships, not an invisible points system. Elric Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 There was more action outside - the danes versus the brits in one big brawl (don't know the scorecard on that), while 3 French and a Dane capped a dutch vic, capped a mortar brig (a nasty green one) and sank a indefatigable.
DekomoriDesu Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 holly, we spend 1hr to sail our ship to the point which close to the emenies, then we only have 30mins to do pvp action in the combat in the recently PB we have done.
Neverdead Ned Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) It would have been fun if there wasn't any counter but it was also poorly executed. There were pockets of Dutch just sitting in circle B chilling while their buddies valiantly fought. Some came with really soft ships...were they prize ships? Edited February 2, 2017 by Neverdead Ned

While some one mentioned bad wind they could of enter on the north and south side more to get better wind. We been noticing that a lot in the port battles that folks bring very soft ships. We think it's cause of the meta to have fast speed ships to run folks down or more likely to run away. Or in this case to run to the cap circle first. They had a bunch of extra guys at "C" that weren't in the circle or trying to fight that could of stopped our cap of that circle. It was stopped for a bit when one of us got out of the circle, but we fixed it real fast. The waiting t hing killed them at Kids. Until the new stuff comes out that is on test server really to win an attack on equal numbers you have to be the aggreser as the defenders all ways going to have an edge starting with "A" and gaining cap points. 1
Pelennor Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Too many PBs are ending briefly in a race for points. Too many fights(=fun) are avoided that way, in this ridiculous competition. It amazes me each times I think devs have put so wonderful combat mecanics (damage model, loosing crew, instances etc...) and so pitiful rules to prevent ppl to have fun (PB races, IA fleet, coastal defence spam, screening, once dertermined defender or social perk...) 1
Snoopy Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 On top of that .. ship hulls are far stronger relative to gun penetration than they used to be, which means survivability is insane at the moment, in all battles. This is why boarding heavy setups, and fire ships are viable elements in PBs now. Hopefully they nerf armor somewhat in the future again. The new PB mechanic may not be perfect but it is an upgrade over the previous version. 1

The pointsystem gets tweaked though like you see on the testbed server. (more time inside the PB, first 10 minutes no pointgeneration...) The portbattles on PvP1 end with quite some kills though nowadays. I think people just need to get some experience where to spawn etc. and then it works. The last few fights where pirates where attacking and we had close numbers we did fight them to get the circles as they had control of all or just two. Than there where folks sunk. The problem is the Dutch/US/Brits on PvP2 and there little alliances mostly PvEers that don't fight. So they won't go into a fight unless they out number you. They had 1-2 more than us, but if we start to sink any of them in a fight like that they all start to run. It's why they have to bring 35+ to a port battle when we can normally bring 15-19. This is the second time we almost had full on our side cause we don't have an alliance. They all ways have more than us with the alliance and we still beat them most port battles that are close in numbers. If it's not close in numbers we tend to loose cause the cap out circles gets to 1K, but we end up killing over twice the ships they do even though we are out numbered. That and we do study the ports, check the winds before the battle and come up with a plan of attack. I think they just haven't figured out how to do them yet cause most the time it's 12 vs 25 and we just fight it out in one circle or the last two we accidentally flipped killing them while they grinded down agro and flipped the ports so since we had no intention to show up we just waited out side until they got out and fought a few of them and well got there loot that way. There is more than one way to fight a fight after all. Oh on PvP1 we had some goes pop over after the port battle to goof around. We been killing a lot of US players around Sandy point. It's not diff rent then PvP1 there they come out with there silvers all expecting nothign and than tag. Even better now since we are at the Spain port instead of the pirate and we catch them going to shroud cay. Give us a week or two and you will start to see us more on the US prime time. Clan tag for [BLACK] on PvP1 is [LOCO] in spain. Kinda a joke in hopes of one of our players Loco Bandito comes back....we miss that crazy AUS.... 1 hour ago, Snoopy said: On top of that .. ship hulls are far stronger relative to gun penetration than they used to be, which means survivability is insane at the moment, in all battles. That I have warned the guys that haven't gone over there to test it out we will have to start changing some battle plans. Really I like the longer time to kill for the simple fact ships do go down to fast some times, but the problems with the other folks on PvP2 is we noticed they bring Cedar speed built ships to a fight and wonder while they shoot our sails they are sinking cause the blow there broadside out. Than we repair our sails and run down the ones trying to run and escape. That and many a times we find out they bring crapppy store bought green ships aned than wonder why they loose even though they out number us. Most store ships are going to be made of sub par wood for a brawl fight. Edited February 2, 2017 by Sir Texas Sir 2
