AmberDay Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I just bought this game and am very lost already. Apparently there isn't a tutorial. I decided to start in the PvE server until I learn the game, but can't figure the game out. I have spent a couple hours watching Youtube videos and they don't seem to answer my question; how do I add items to my hold to deliver them? For instance, I started as the United States and am in Turtle Cay. I accepted a mission that has me deliver 476 Walnut Oil to Walter Cay. When I go to the warehouse it says deliveries can only be made in a Free Town. I am confused on this. If I picked up the mission in Turtle Cay shouldn't I get the supplies there? I scoured the map and can't find Free Town anywhere; not sure if that is even a place. I keep losing when I fight pirates so I was hoping to do missions to get stronger, but I can't even do those. I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Amber
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Hello and welcome. While the User Interface will be reviewed in the last stage of development the elements are there albeit it can be confusing at first. When in Port, select the ship you want to use. You will see the ship Cargo hold space on the right side and the Warehouse space also on the right side. Anything you buy, from cannon to resources will be placed in the warehouse space. You simply drag and drop those into your ship Cargo hold. Once you have the necessary items for the delivery mission on your Hold you may Sail out and go to the intended port. Automated deliveries are only possible between Free Ports, marked in grey in the Map. Thus any cargo that needs to travel from and to any nation controlled port must be transported by yourself. ------ Also I strongly request that you and any players out there that need help, guidance or have any special requests to check the Guides board http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/forum/44-guides/
Ned Loe Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 (edited) Welcome. Take a look here\/ Free Towns are marked with - F, Sail to shroud cay and try again. http://www.navalactioncraft.com/map Use this to help navigate. http://burningsail.com/ Switch your guns to 6lb longs. 4lb won't do the trick for you. [8-9] - Long/Med Guns (Long /Med range) [8-9] - Caronades (Close range) Go to the Shop and look for number 8 guns. Check box under Locations inside the mission window for NPC Help. This will spawn few NPCs with you. I tried rank 1 missions myself yesterday and they are difficult even for a Veteran Player. It will take you some time to get used to controls. Tip - Use T(T again to turn it off) before you fire, it will stabilize your ship + use battle sails B. Switch sides, it is much faster vs waiting on reload per broadside. I would strongly suggest you to stick with fighting missions until you get better ship and skills. If you have any more questions please ask. Devs take note. Edited January 18, 2017 by Ned Loe 1
UberAegis Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Hi Amber, welcome to the game. If you have taken a delivery mission you have to buy the goods yourself ,you may have to travel to another port to find them. The delivery tab on the warehouse screen isnt really anything to do with delivery missions. When you get more outposts you can use delivery to pay ship goods closer to your outposts(the idea is it cuts out majority of travelling time). To be honest delivery missions are not really aimed at new players. As already stated your best bet is to take a few midshipman missions to get used to how your boat handles (basic cutter is free to replace). Also if you see an AI trader Lynx or trader cutter carrying contraband you can attack them as they carry no guns.It does seem daunting when you first load game but take advantage of the help channel as there are a lot of people from all nations who will be happy to answer your questions or offer advice.Happy sailing 1
Yar Matey Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 (edited) Best advice for fighting missions I can give you is to take the stock cannons off your cutter and put on 12 lb carronades. Carronades do more damage, and load faster, and you will be able to easily take out the NPC ship with them. But in order for the carronades to be effective you need to be very close to the enemy ship. They are kind of like shot guns, they pack a punch but you need to be close to the enemy. When you take the guns off your ship, there will be numbers underneath the box where you take the cannons off, it will look something like this [4-6][3-5]. Look at the picture where I have cannon and cannonade labeled. The first set of numbers represents the largest and smallest cannons the ship can use. The second number is the largest and smallest carronades the ship can use. Also, dont forget to buy repair kits on the ship selection screen! Edited January 18, 2017 by Yar Matey 4
AmberDay Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 Wow, thanks! You have been very helpful =)
Sir Texas Sir Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Steam has a few good walk through but they are a little out dated. On youtube check out Olavdeng2 and Jehil's videos. They helped me a lot when I first started getting more into the game. Take your time with the basic cutter as you gain your first level. It's free along with any crew you lost so you can sink it as many times as you end up. The AI changed a lot when I started I could swear I prob sunk about 20 times back than before I got my first good mission. It's not like that any more but still a tuff learning curve early on. 1
