So after reading in the Diplo killed the Game Thread i got a Idea.

How about Letters of Mark we can buy them, they must be really expensive (higher then the pure DPS reward), then we are allowed to kill 10 Player controlled ships of a friendly Nation.

After 5 killed friendly Nation Players we get flagged attackable for our Nation to, when we sink one of them and dont escape without it we turn Pirate.

When we choose the Enemy Ships right we are able to get a small Profit or so to cover the Letter´s cost (loaded Trader for example).

The Letter must be carried in the cargo hold so when we sink we loose it.

In the end it will be a minus Business for most Players wich would also help to reduce the currently existing amount of Ingame-Money.

Quit simple and maybe others have more ideas to make the original better, but it would solve the situation some nations are in for example sweden wich is surrounded with friends. It could generate more Open Water PVP without destroying the Nations Diplomacy. And it could be valuable for small Nations wich arent able to leave their Alliance without getting stomped, eventually it could also be interesting for Player with a limited time Contingent so they dont need to travel very far for some Action.

I am playing PvP almost every evening i am ingame.

I am a swdish player and i havnt any problems to find pvp.

Just make outposts in several neutral towns where are often PBs or PvP Events or trader routes and everyone will get pvp.

In my opinion no need to change the diplo system. There is a need to change the behavior of some guys who are not willing to

make outposts near pvp hotspots.

If we are allied with nation x i want to play with that nation as an ally. No exceptions

This is not even remotely connected with what a Letter of Marque is.  A Letter of Marque enabled a private citizen/entity to attack his nation's ENEMIES.

I'm even sure what to call what you are looking for, other than "Temporary Pirate with a Get Out of Jail Free Card"...,

If you are a swede and having trouble finding PvP, may I suggest an outpost in Navasse or Tortue?  Take a trip in the Windward Passage.  My guess is you'll find plenty of PvP.

I know what a letter of marque is but i didnt have a better name to call it but if you want i change it to TPwagoJFC :P (but for people to respond you need some more interesting name at first)

I created the thread to get some more ideas for this topic together and discuss it maybe.

For the other stuff we can talk about my pvp preferences per pm but it brings nothing for the idea even if you are maybe right.

From a previous thought:

I was talking with Hethwill a bit, and he had this thing where he got some ships in exchange for giving a share of the loot over to the "owners."  And, honestly, I really liked the idea and was wondering if we could formalize it.

In the same manner that the ship builder gets 5% of XP earned in combat, so too could we have a ship builder select how much of an "ownership stake" he or she has in a vessel.  The numbers that I think we settled on were 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%.  Essentially, if the ship "owner" had a 20% stake in the vessel, 20% of all cargoes captured by that vessel would instead become redeemables for the ship owner.  (We settled on 20% as being "too much of a pain in the butt to exploit" for the upper limit.)

What I would foresee coming out of this would be ship builders would be more than happy to give vessels away to new players and privateers alike, in order to line their own pockets.  People would sell ships for more or less based on the ownership stake they themselves had in it.  You could take it to another level and let owners right click a vessel and remove their ownership stake in a vessel (in a trade window) in exchange for whatever the player wanted to offer.

I think, in all, it would be a good way to add another layer to the economy side of the house, and could facilitate some very interesting gameplay styles.
