Do light carriages make a ship faster? Haven't found a clear answer.

Do they make a ship faster? if yes, how much? I haven't found a final answer anywhere, just speculation and reports about speed changes. But then I find contradicting reports about no speed changes.

Guns effect your speed depending how light or heavy they are.  Devs have said and many have tested it yest they do effect your speed, it just does not show it in port screen.

Unless it broke during the last patches, it does affect your speed but it is a very minute effect - not worth it.

I have not tested its effect on speed, but would tend to agree that it has minimal effect, but where light carriages do have a greater effect is in the crew requirements. I noticed a marked improvement in my times for the PvE events using light carriages as I can maintain a full crew on the guns longer which improves reload rate.

If it's pve you could run light canvas also. I do that lvling my alt when undercrewing.
