I suppose YOU the player are the Army General, and that character you created is more of your starting corps general that you have "recruited" besides that i'm not sure how it'd work, or i do, i just don't see a reason for it as corps are the perfect size for large units, they have commanders and you can have up to 4? i think, maybe 5(i'm not sure i usually stop at 3 since you really don't need any more than that).
