FieryCross Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 First of Gratz to Rus on the capture last night. However it did raise a point about L'Ocean is it now over powered with the new mechanics also the availability of the BP. Have seen the screen shot of the L'Ocean with nearly what 90cm of armour, like sending a wooden ship up against an iron clad, virtually unsinkable now, from reports I have heard. That being said if no changes are going to be made would it not be possible to spread a few more of the BP around to allow more nations the crafting ability. At present for example you have 25 L'Ocean turn up built with the new bonus system in place, there will be no point in even attempting to defend. It was already a powerful ship before the patch, this just makes it a bit OTT.
Mirones Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 she has her drawbacks compared to the other two firsty's 1
Augustus Charles Hobart H Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 i doubt the ocean is OP, strong hull might be but not the ocean its self, but i have yet to get to sail a new built 1st rate so i'm not prepared to call it op till i see some real testing. 1

Fluffy Fishy Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) The ability to build a strong hulled, build strength L'Ocean with live oak is just too much, that would give it +25% armour value, -5% leaks and the real killer +14cm armour. Leaving her with an 89cm hull and at least 16000 hp on each side, you could even chuck the build strength and go for stiffness for the +2cm there, giving her a mighty 91cm on her sides. If you then slap on extra planking it makes it even more impenetrable of a beast. The other thing that really bothers me about the Ocean is that it can mount 42lbs, it should really be restricted to 36s, Victory and Pavel should be the only ships currently in the game able to mount the largest guns as they were designed to take the load, unlike Santissima and Ocean, who were only designed with 36s in mind. People say there are draw backs but used properly there really aren't any that are hard enough to make a difference, currently L'Ocean is the best first rate by a fair margin. Kloothommel Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Don't worrie its a "premium (Special) ship... they will never be more powerful then the normal ones..." That the Brits have been able to produce for months, unlike the other alliance.
Paulus de Boskabouter Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 The ocean has the same armor as vic only more hp. Beside that she has more firepower and crew but sailing is worse. The santi has more firepower worse sailing and and a little less crew and a litte less HP. All 3 ships can be build with liveoak buildstrength stronghull and reach the same armor thickness. So in short she can have more hp, same armor, more crew, bad sailing and inbetween firepower. So OP is not the case imho 2
Augustus Charles Hobart H Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) That the Brits have been able to produce for months, unlike the other alliance. I'm confused are you saying its OP but its cool because now you can make them? Or are you mad because a British player got the BP first? And to be fair he sold them to lots of people both British and non British and made a killing. Edited November 5, 2016 by Augustus Charles Hobart H
Yar Matey Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 If anything, it's not the ship, but maybe the strong hull regional trim may be too good. All 3 first rates have the same starting thickness.
Wesreidau Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Would be a lot easier to see if its overpowered or not if, you know... more people could build her.
Sir Texas Sir Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 If anything, it's not the ship, but maybe the strong hull regional trim may be too good. All 3 first rates have the same starting thickness. I have to agree with you and they all have there strength and weakness. But there are other trims out there that are great too. Some might say the Pirate Refit is to OP or even the British one with the 5% reload with the right perks and mods can get you 25% off your reload. Yah we will see a lot more of these builds for port battles and yes the ships will be slug fest. Don't bring your light wood ships to a port battle folks. Every one I have for port battles I made for brawling and they are pill box tanks. While I have diffrent ships for PvP and even PvE (did I just admit that?)
Fenris Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Glad to oblige then I was ironic. Let me guess, you play GB,and like many other players of your nation, you are perfectly playing this new VICTIM role. After each defeat or setback more and more of "yours" are complaining here in Forums about each and everything. It is just sad and pathetic. 2

Surprised that now that others can build them there is a lot of whine all over the game and forum. Edited November 6, 2016 by Kloothommel 1
Mirones Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 i sail the Ocean mostly her close hauled abilitys are beyond good and evil. and Ocean has only 36 pounders.

Virtually unsinkable? I'm going to tell my buddy that he really didn't lose his L'Ocean, then, since it is unsinkable. Of course, he's lost 1 Victory and 2 Santismas, and his free Buc. 1
Lord Heyford Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 That the Brits have been able to produce for months, unlike the other alliance. What are you talking about? I got mine from a Spanish crafter. He got the BP during event as he was suspiciously close to a wreck when the event spawned.
Wesreidau Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Could it maybe be changed so people smashing up 2nd rates can get the L'Ocean blueprint. Just an idea. Its been a few months now... and we're just now finding potential issues with the ship because its so rare. I mean... we're in alpha... shouldn't we be testing these limited-issue ships? If they need stay limited at all?
Mirones Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 crafting and blueprint system gets reworked wich includes the pulishing of endy and indy bp.
