Jean Ribault Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 (edited) Just to float a completely new idea to assist with some of the issues people see with too much sailing for pvp and to set up remote outposts, and just too much sailing in general in NA, I would like to offer a suggestion of a Regional Area of Random Teleport (RART). It would work something like this: What is the RART ?: - The RART is not a port, but rather a circular area of the OW that is periodically and randomly selected by the game. - The center of the RART would be anywhere in the open sea and active coastal areas, selected by the game as any random GPS coordinate. - The area (radius) would be perhaps the size of one of the larger current map regions. (The area could also be random). - There would aways be one and only one RART existing somewhere on the map. - The RART would be re-spawned anew every interval of, say, 3 hours. (Time open for discussion). How is the RART used ?: - It is selected by any player at any time, OW or in port, who could immediately teleport to the RART. The player is then randomly spawned somewhere within the RART, with his ship. - The player may only have one additional fleet ship with him in order to teleport. - The player and ship may not teleport with goods other than fish and salt, medkits, and repair kits. (This could be open for discussion, but most people see TP without goods as preferred). - You cannot teleport OUT of the RART, only INTO it. If you want to TP out, you must use your TP to capital button, or visit another port from which you can TP to an outpost. - The game mechanic would have to place you in the OS if a part of the RART covers a land mass. How that happens is coding and detail I can't propose here. - No travel XP are awarded if you use the RART and are in a trader. Award is zero for your next port visit. Benefit: - Mainly this is a way to get to pvp faster. It essentially generates a new random hot zone continuously. - Continually checked, you might find it saves you time now and then in OW sailing during trading. - Now and then a RART will show up giving you the opportunity to move ships or set up a new outpost without a bunch of wasted sailing time. - Pirates and privateers have a new means of finding prey at all times. - The short-term random nature of it means large clans can't exploit it to organize a normally impossible attack (unfair). - Players with only an hour to log in and play might be able to find an immediate fight so they have a reason to log in and check. Drawbacks? I'm sure there are some potential exploits and/or drawbacks. But the too-much-sailing voices are getting louder and louder in the community, so maybe we need a new way of getting action going. Please provide feedback, thanks. Ned Loe Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 This is a very solid idea on how to improve long travel issue. Here is a very similar idea with picture: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/17290-system-that-will-fix-long-travel-time/?p=333098 1
