You should consider disabling captured ship teleport until a new system is avaible because as of now it is used as an exploit to teleport ships around the world.

Disabling it you could even bring back smuggler fighting and green on green for pirates.

Even having the option to sink a captured ship doesn't make any sense if you can simply send it away without any cost, even of crew. If you really want it you can take it to your fleet, crew it, and escort it back; or if you can't, you sink it.

Having some sort of alternative “ship parking" (even temporary) would help if you capture something in the middle of a mission and you don't want to carry it around until you're done and ready to bring it back to your outpost.

And this would even work nicely with single durability ships making it more dangerous to move around ships.

Maybe what we should really do is legitimize it.

You can no longer "send to outpost". You must take it into your fleet or sink it.

However, you can now use the delivery system to send ships (just like you can with goods -- same rules).

This eliminates the ability to use "send to outpost" as an escape method but still lets you move ships across the map with some degree of ease.

Send to outpost is the only way we have to get ships to where we need them.  You already have to go through the trouble of finding a enemy ship to cap or friendly trader with contraband goods, then cap the ship.  It already puts you out of the action of where you want to be for quite a long time.  Also, changing the teleport system to a delivery system would suck for people who are not flush with ships all over the map.  If you are a newer player or a casual player you probably have 1-2 ships to do combat with.  Moving to a delivery system will hurt these players that just want to get into PvP out in open world.

Lets assume that you just bought your first 3rd or 2nd rate SoL out of your capital, and now you want to go with your friends to PvP with and they are operating out of a free port 500 km away form your capital.  If we move to a delivery system, you will have to sail your ship to a free-port, then send your ship via delivery, and wait ~5 hours for your ship to be delivered.  So you essentially have nothing to do and just log out for the day as your ship is being delivered.  Next day you log in to play some NA, and your friends are now going to a Port Battle that is far away from the port you just sent your new ship, and thus you still do not get to play any NA because your ship is not where it needs to be on that day.

If the game moves to a 1 durability system and makes ships in the 4th, 5th, and 6th rate categories much cheaper in terms of resources and labor hours, than a delivery system for ships is fine, but until that happens I am strongly opposed to removing the teleport system.

i do wish people would stop suggesting ways to further slow down movement to and from conflict zones and further reduce PvP instances; game already has too much "Tall ship simulator 2016" elements as is, i.e. i think the OP's idea is terrible.

They really need to put in a ship delivery system like we have for materials in free ports.  Though I would say that this option is only from out post to out post and should take a good while just like the in game delivery system does.  So you might get your ship to the new port in 2-24 hours depending on the distance.  Give us 10 ports to help out the spread of ships and lack of a magical teleport of ships too.  Never understood why we only had 8 ports odd number for ports.

I all ways been a big fan that you have to sail your prize back to port and only to a port you have an out post in.   This gives more chance for PvP as folks can recapture back these ships.  Specially if they are SOL's.  This will make them even more rare cause you couldn't just cap it and send it back to your outpost.   You have to crew them and most the time it's a Prize crew so they are under crewed.  Med-kits should only allow you to get your crew back up to original ship/fleet crew strength and you can't just magically fill ships with your crew pool until you get back into port.  Though with this Doctor perk should be auto at end of battle.  Even if you cut it down to 50% crew back after battle if you don't sink.    This will stop the abuse of guys bringing fleets with there SOL's and when some one tells them there are players out side and they send there SOL's home and jump into there under crewed basic frigates they don't care about loosing.  We been seeing this a lot lately when we go to stop hostility or just to get some PvP fights.

i would like to see a  "send to outpost as AI Fleet",  there would be a risk to loose it, but aswell a moneysink :P

same with  delivery system,  "send Cargo to Harbour XXX", attach own ships as Fleet, then lets travel it per OW. no more TP

Keep the teleport, but put a timer on it.  If you send a ship halfway across the world, it should take an hour.  That lets you respond to new threats to a region in the same evening, but no instant fleet to a fight unless you have ships there already.

This just comes down to the 3 P's.

Piss Poor Planning.

You didn't plan ahead which means you have failed in moving ships to where the fight is.  This is not the fault of the developer but your own failure.   You should have sailed that ship out to the front prior to the action, if it is a PB, you know 2 days in advance when they are going to happen.

I often run my frigates (5th rates) everywhere.  I have sailed my Essex or the Trinc, from Jamaica, to Bonaca, all the way to Tortuga and up to Charleston.    All the while staying based out of a handful of ports.   If you time your departure right, you can cover a great deal of ocean in a VERY short time.  Having gone from Kingston to Atwood in around 45min while talking plans with clan mates in TS3.    Or having a meeting in another VOIP for another game that I play, or just talking with my GF and playing with the cat.

My ships are not the fastest... but they are built to the way I like them.. and I am not the greatest sailor.  I just know how to navigate.

So I am ALL for the removal of ALL teleporting ships.

Doesn't matter what you think, what matters is the reality.  Your shoulda woulda coulda, means nothing if you are in a big empty world by yourself because everyone else left the game.  The reality is new and casual players do not have a lot of ships to play the game.  Take away the teleporting, and you take away their ability to play the game; its that simple. Just because you are willing to sit and sail in OW for 45 minutes does not mean that the majority of players are willing to, and according to all the negative feedback this game is getting in steam reviews, one of the biggest complaints I see is the long sailing time to actually do anything in this game.

...... or just talking with my GF and playing with the cat.

Don't you have that backwards?  LOL

Yah I multi task like crazy when I play this game.  I normally looking up stupid things on YouTube and google while chatting with clan mates in TS and seeing what all is going on with other games I play or have played in the past.   Watching some movie or stupid TV show.  Hell I'll even leave the computer and do stuff like laundry, clean the dishes or cook super.  You think these guys don't have a clue how to multi task.

I'll admit lately I been getting back into reading when I'm doing long hauls.  I use to do my reading while traveling from one job to the next as it's some times 20-40 hours travel from one side of the world to the other for jobs, but since I been laid off I haven't read one book.  Just open the iPad (I know it's not a real book) and read as I watch my screen to make sure I'm not getting tagged.

You will have to many complaints if there is a chance to loose the ships so just do it like deliveries and have it take any where from 1-24 hours for the ship to get to it's location.  This will keep from the need to sling ships and hunt down a AI trader to tag just to do this or using alts in other nations.

I would support removing teleport ships.  The ideas presented would be nice.

As in any game.  Get game mechanics that work and are fun.  And learn how to use them.

Keep up up the good work devs.  Please don't discouraged.  Do your dream.  I can t wait for release.  I have not played in a while.  As I am awaiting the final release.  Or a big patch I think my play style will support for testing.

Teleporting from port to port is nice but teleporting ships should be removed.

I disagree.  Teleporting is sufficiently inconvenient but makes getting forces together to fight doable.

you have a couple of choices,

The current system , use as a teleport, no change.

Or

1.Add to fleet and lose crew to sail it back yourself.

2. Send to outpost, lose crew to sail it there.

Really not that hard, we do not need any further time sinks

The Devs are going to put in Towing:

Now they didn't give details on how this will work. My personal assumption is you'll be able to send ships between outposts (like deliveries between free ports). They say it will untie their hands in other matter like ship capture, so I think this means you can't TP ships out of battlescreen, you'll probably need to put them in fleet or "tow" them to an outpost.

We'll see how it turns out.

"Send to outpost" starts a timer based on the distance to that outpost, so a long-distance teleport might take an hour or two. People can still port their ships, but its faster to sail them.
