Hi, based on current testing of hostility, it has turned into a low level AI gind fest. While there is some PvP to be found, joining missions and intercepting players, PvP is hard to find. I also hope this might help make things interesting for current and new players.

My suggestion is to create a Point/Swords at sea for each Region where players have to sail to in order to create a Lobby based PvP fight, based on Rank/BR. If one side has more BR than other, AI ships make up the difference. How many times have we all been sailing around and we know there are players who want a fight, but we cant find each other or the scales are tipped in favour of one side so the fight does not happen. Maybe restrict each fight to 10vs10? There would also still be a need for OW, as you have to sail there, and there might be epic battles outside trying to get in. People can then get quicker action, and the ability to stay in that region to create/defend hostility, rather than having to sail back for 30+ mins for the night to tuck the ship away. If you want to change regions, you do have to sail back to port. If there are no defenders or attackers, then the BR is matched up with AI as currently.

People will still need to use OW, trade, craft, but hopefully it will create more FUN for players.

Not really. Problem is you get nothing back from sailing or killing. Lobby won't fix anything. Rewards, achievements and leaderboards will. If I know I am going to get PvP marks, loot, Rare drops from pvp/pve I will go and kill everything I see. No questions there.

Not sure if your replies have picked up on my points.

Yes, there is possible action, once you get to the designated area in OW, still need to sail, setup outposts, move ships etc..

If you want achivements, rare drops, just add them in to the winners loot, and have leaderboards. Just add up BR sunk/assist/captured for players and there is your leaderboard.

I also think you are imiting the player base by saying people love sailing around for hours on end, most people do not have that kind of time. It would still be a big part of the game, but not every day/night.

Also, to stress, this is to raise hostility, but not for Port Battles

You can have all of this except raising the hostility just by using small or big battles in the mission tab. Yet noone seems to use it. So the problem is not the game, its the people who play it.

And yes it takes a lot of time to actually find some fights, but on the other side you cant force people to do PvP if they dont want it. Most people in this game just seem to enjoy PvE missions and afk sailing more.

Leaderboards are not a good thing.  They tend to turn into a very toxic numbers game.  You get folks that seal club to get there stats up and than brag about it.  You have really good players with crappy stats cause they fight against over whelming odds.  I rarely have ever seen in game (not counting mods) that tells true abilities of a player.  Now Rewards, Achievements and Titles I'm all game for.   We really could use a reputation system in game.  The talks about PvP credit system that you can turn in for paints and even maybe redeem for a special ship is a good way too.  Loot/Drops that actually mean something. I'm so sick of getting grey mods for a good port battle. I'm freaking Curse in a SOL in a d SOL battle and I get a stupid grey mod?  What the hell?   But I can kill a Trade Snow and get a Master Craft mod.   Epic Events should have these special loot drops over most random AI (maybe just a better chance?), but make the loot drop more for the fight or those that do the most in battles.  Low in loot should be in low in missions while HIgh end should be in your top missions.

I hate the idea of a lobby or any type of "instant" action system for this game.

And ultimately it wont help anything.  People come to this game not for the instant action but because they want that "thrill" of being a captain in the age of sail.   They want to command these wooden machines of war or the thrill of being a pirate avoiding the law.

Right now you kind of get that feeling but it is falling short.  Mainly because of population problems.    You have 3 servers, 1 server with a population that averages 300-500 people, another that has between 100-150 people, and a PVE server than barely gets in to the 100s.    If you merge the servers, ALL of the servers, and have a dedicated test server that has NO effect on the main server, where you can test new patches and review them, where it is wiped often to keep things balanced.   These would go a long way to fixing things.

There is a reason I don't play CoD type games. If this turns into a lobby fighting arena game I will stop playing it like I did when I was alpha testing World of Warships.  I just lost interest in it faster than I did the warplanes one.   I'm not on here to do that type of fighting if I want that I'll go play those games which I have 1K of hours in WoT as is but haven't played in weeks or even months.

You want more PvP put a dot on the map in a region saying most of the agro is in this area.  Hell it doesn't even have to be in the ocean just mark what port is getting the most in that region and folks will have a smaller field to search for the missions and join them.

I'm kinda agreeing with the server mergers.  To me PvE server is just pointless at this stage for a few players.  Yes have it when it goes live.  Fine we will give them guys that option. For now make an area like the Newbie area that is PvE only and let them play over in that little kiddie pool area like you mention doing with the Pacific coast line.  Sorry stop trying to make every one happy, you just will never do it.  They don't deserve every thing the PvPer's get cause they aren't playing PvP.  Ever game I been on they had limit of the "SAFE ZONE's" and you couldn't get the best gear unless you went into the PvP "DANGER ZONES."   I know a lot of folks are going to hate a server merge, but lets be real here if we are really play testing this for you  than you need to treat this as a TEST ALPHA.  To many folks are into this game as if it's fully released and I'm sorry you will piss them off, but so be it.  If they can't understand wipes are needed and some time all getting on one server is too than they aren't the players you want here later.   More than likely a lot of them will come back when the game goes live cause it was a game they paid for after all.

Oh and I'll be honest last night I left my clan TS for a few hours cause some of the guys where bitching and moaning about lack of PvP.   Well you know what they could of been doing those 2-3 hours.  Actually going out there and finding it.   Half them refuse to fight in the shallows cause it's benieth them and they are complaining about no one wanting to fight their 1st rates and ship of the line.  You know how you fix that.  TAKE SMALLER SHIPS OUT.    If we are so skilled that we can beat them any way why do you need to be in a SOL to win a fight all the time.  Some one said that folks don't play this game to go back into little ships, but I say BS the majority of the players like to play in multi types of ships. It's the elitist that think they should only fight in one ship and every one else must meet there terms that are going to complain and leave.   Let them.  They prob are the same guys that rarely fill out F11's or post feed back on the game other than to complain.
