Ok I thought I saw some one posting this, but am I correct if you surrender it doesn't cause any hostility points for that region for the attacking team?   Clan mate has said he keeps getting guys with basic ships just surrendering any time he attacks some one.  Than he checks and he's gained no agro points and there was none put on that region.  If this is starting to become a norm devs need to make Surrendering a penality to the hostility of your nation.  Give it the same points as if they where sunk but they just keep there ships.   I know the problem could be where it's abused, but it's being abused by folks just surrendering to keep from getting sunk or put points on that region.

Odd. IIRC the points get check every half an hour. Can you verify in that time cycle ?

I haven't had this happen to  me yet, but I'll ask them to let me know next time.  So that we can double check.

You need to score a kill to raise hostility, and if you dont have enough damage before the enemy surrenders, you don't score the kill. It happened to me after i hit 100+ sails and a good amount of crew on some enemy player. He surrendered and no kill :x

Needs a rework in my opinion. Something like every surrender scores kill : For the player with most damage, and if nobody damaged, for the closest enemy player.

Yah I can see how it can be abused either way.  Though by the way the clan mates where explaining they where going out in basic ships to grind.  As soon as they hit them instead of joining a missions since it's so hard to find the exact locations of the missions a lot of time they will just surrender at the start of the battle and be on there happy way.  Since it's a cheap store bought grey ship they really haven't lost much of anything.

Surrenders grant hostility if they are counted as a kill, but a player has to inflict damage to gain a kill.

Well, enemy at least loses a ship durability if it serves of any consolation. It will be a durability contest if your opponents keep doing it I guess.

At the very minimum, hostility should be raised even if it isn't granted to a particular player.  Though it should be given to the player that has inflicted the most damage, or barring that, the closest.  In general, that would be the person that forced the surrender.

Come on guys, you only need to do 10% damage to be granted a kill (or is it even 5%?).

That should not be too hard right? One good broadside with a same tier ship is usually enough to grant me a kill when i cap npcs in a mission...

OK we just had it happen.  Me and a clan mate tagged a 3rd rate in front of a port.  He was low on crew and the towers started to pound into him.  He surrender before we can get guns on him and do any damage.  So niether of us can claim his ship since we didn't do any damage and I'm sure there would of been no hostility points since it's a region we have a port battle in a few hours.  Though that brings up another thing I know they put the ship locks on so you can't steal caps, but we couldn't even caped the ship that he surrender cause it was the tower that did the majority of the damage.

Could you board/transfer crew to his surrendered ship ?

Nope we couldn't cause the tower was the only one that did the damage.  I think they changed it where it's locked to who ever did the most damage to keep from ship stealling in battles that others captured.   Will have to test more.  I was a good way from him but a clan mate was close by and it wouldn't let him claim it.   I kinda rushed out of there and forgot to F11 it so the Devs can check it out.  I'll try to do so next time I run across this.  Since it was a port battle zone we weren't to worried about agro points from him surrendering.
