Hugh Latham Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 It appears port conquest can be achieved near instantly through "war supplies" with no chance for defense. Bad mechanic. I think war supplies should not be capable of producing more than 50% and perhaps less if we find this, too, is over powered. With the current mechanic, the timing of port battles is entirely dictated by the attacker and there is no opportunity to defend in the OW. One could protest that the attacker still has to win the port battle, but since the battle time is set for a time when nearly no defender can attend, then timing becomes an "I win" button. I don't know how much coding time it would take to fix this, but if it isn't fixed relatively soon we shall simply have to take time away from the game until it is fixed.
Captain Lord Cochrane Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Oh wow, yeah that defeats the whole point of the hostility tug of war- which I think is a fantastic addition to the game. If a nation can sail up with some Indiamen when the other nation is off peak hours, dump 130 war supplies all at once and that locks in a PB then yeah that's the end of the hostility mechanic. War supplies should be limited to 30-40% of hostility max.
Anolytic Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Before you complain about war supplies being OP, try making 134 of them and getting them to where you need them. Come back in 1 month and let me know if you're half way there yet.
Teutonic Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 (edited) The amount of Labor Hours you have to use to Craft them is insane. Granted I haven't checked them after the recent hotfix, but if a player, a clan, or a nation make the effort to make a ton of war supplies, they should be rewarded for that effort. The amount of labor hours is essentially saying "I am not building ships for myself or others in order to get hostility." Now I too think that War Supplies should be limited in how much hostility it can throw into a region, but they are an incredible labor hour sink that can't be ignored.
