themule08 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I bring this up because honestly this option is out dated. There is no reason to have this still in the game, other than to annoy people who don't hit the button before going on a trade run. Must people just leave it always on so they don't forget.. since there are no consequences. Just a rather annoying button that is not needed.. like pray
Anne Wildcat Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Have you looked at the trade missions? They all are take so & so goods into this enemy capital. That would not be possible without smuggler. Also, when attacking a trade ship, it's nice to take command of that ship, hop into the enemy port, and sell the goods. 1

You will be flagged as carrying contraband and can be attacked. It can be risky.
themule08 Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 (edited) How do you mean there are no consequences? You will be flagged as carrying contraband and can be attacked. It can be risky. I don't get your point? The smugglers flag was put in for the reason that your own nation could attack you if you had contraband goods. Now you can't.. so the only use is to get into a port as a trader. Just get rid of the button.. that way it gets rid of the annoying I forgot it and sailed forever.. There is no negative to just leaving it on all the time.. players can attack you with or without it on.. your nation can not attack you no matter what. Just allow anyone in a trader ship into a port and get rid of the button..it causes more headaches then good. Edited October 29, 2016 by themule08
SeaMist Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 On PVE you would not be able to trade at all without it. You could do without it only if the ability to trade with other national ports was on by default.
Norfolk nChance Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 A Must remain function, but with one tweak. PvE this is a must remain funtion, but with one tweak. The player gives up his PvE protection rights from other Players, but not the ai. This would give the PvE server a real massive boost in game play. Traders would need un-tagged escorts allowing for more OW battle interactions. It would be a real massive boost Norfolk nChance

Think you are taking this wrong buddy.. in its current use it just frustrates players who forget to click it before a long sail. It has no reason to be since the main use was to be a risk your own nation could attack you. Now it is annoying since I guarantee everyone sets sail for 30 minute sail to get some goods..and say **** forgot that stupid check..
Mrdoomed Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Im not your buddy, pal. ;p Then just click it on onece and leave it on.
Rikard Frederiksen Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Think you are taking this wrong buddy.. in its current use it just frustrates players who forget to click it before a long sail. It has no reason to be since the main use was to be a risk your own nation could attack you. No, its main use was to allow you entry to enemy ports to trade in trading ships (trading opportunities that would otherwise be denied), with the downside that 'enemy' forces knew you were trying to get to one of their trading hubs and would try and stop you - number of times I had ships of the line trying to stop my little Trader's Lynx were innumerable. With the current 3 alliance thing, which led to blocks of alliances, its use for me has waned somewhat, but once that is sorted out (and I hope it goes down to 1-2 alliances per nation), then the importance of its use will no doubt be revived. If people fail to put it on before sailing and forget about it until they reach an enemy port, then that is their look out for not making sure they've been properly equipped before leaving port - I've done it and paid the price in time, and if I go to trade in an enemy port and forget to put it on then its my fault. Afterall, you can plot a course to the nearest Free Town, pop it on and head back.
