Wow just lost a ton of stuff

I jumped out of my GAV to mine a resource and the damn thing just vanished.  I was 2000M away from habitat so I flew back to habitat and saved at bed just hoping it would pop back.  Well when I looged back in Everything I had built inside my habitat was gone.  I think I may be done with this game for a while.  Really dont want to start from scratch yet again.
